K. Let me know when it happens. I'll believe it then. I'll just keep hoping until then.

Which "legal experts" are claiming Trump could be facing prison? If they actually have JDs, they should be disbarred for incompetence.

SCOTUS has already ruled on this; the president has very, very broad immunity from any criminal prosecution. The case was dropped in Florida because his stealing highly classified documents was an "official action"; if that can be handwaved away, then so can defrauding the country with a shitcoin pump-and-dump.

Any day now....

If you would please consult the graphs...

Can I downvote this any harder? We've been hearing "prison time" for years, just dangling a carrot. I'm not even going to bother reading this.

Lol

Lmao

Nothing will meaningfully improve until the rich fear for their lives

There was a moment when Trump wrote that Walmart must "eat tariffs" that I thought "oh we're getting close now. Of course I don't want the actual reign of terror that followed the French revolution, but I also wouldn't feel bad if a few examples were made.

[–] [email protected] 24 points 4 days ago

If that dude faced consequences I will eat my hat

Once he's out of politics, he is still on the hook for the Insurrection and the stolen documents. Those cases weren't thrown out, they just went dormant. They can be revived.

Also, he has immunity for "Official" presidential duties. For example, he can't be charged with murder because he greenlit a drone strike on a terrorist camp that also killed civilians. That would be considered within his official duties.

But he can't use his office to solicit bribes, perpetrate frauds, commit election fraud, etc. Those aren't part of his official duties, those are crimes, and he doesn't have immunity to commit crimes.

Wait, didn't he accept a 400 million dollar airplane from a foreign king? I'm no american but I'd imagine that that is kind of a crime when it's the president doing it? I heard of raised eyebrows, nothing about criminal charges.

I mean even if he would not keep the plane (as if) and even if the plane wasn't "prepped" by the gifters before, and even if it wasn't some unusable piece of junk they've tried to get rid of for years... it's still way too much of a gift to present to a president if it's not abundantly clear it's a gift to the people..... and I have heard no such thing.

he doesn't have immunity to commit crimes.

Sadly, he apparently does

[–] [email protected] 3 points 4 days ago

There's a difference between immunity, and just not getting charged and prosecuted. Just because they declined to charge him, doesn't mean it's legal, or that he has immunity.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 4 days ago (4 children)

If his dictatorial aspirations are unsuccessful he's 100% going to prison.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 4 days ago

Briefly. You've seen his unhealthy fascination with what cookie monster would call "some-time food, not all-the-time food", right? (When Cookie monster knows more about healthy choices than your president, it's a sign)

Everyone who still reads articles that say 'blah blah looking at, blah blah might be" and gets hopeful are morons. He will keep getting away with whatever he wants. These articles have been happening for 10 years now and nothing EVER HAPPENS.

[–] [email protected] 20 points 4 days ago (1 children)

the only way trump will ever see justice is if he gets Luigied.

Especially Political talk.

[–] [email protected] 15 points 5 days ago

Nothing involving trump's face is uplifting

[–] [email protected] 50 points 5 days ago

Give me a fucking break. If that cunt meets justice, it’ll happen on the street.

[–] [email protected] 31 points 5 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago) (3 children)

The only way that remotely happens is if the dems take congress in 2026 and impeach and remove him (they'd probably have to get vance too). Which seems highly unlikely and has a high risk of another jan 6 like event.

I'd like to believe it, really, but there is no way that he ever sees justice for his crimes. He'll die of a cheeseburger-related heart attack before that happens.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 4 days ago (1 children)

I find it odd that anyone thinks there's going to be (fair) elections. The Democrats (or any party other than MAGA Republicans) are never going to be in power again, ever.

Too any rich and powerful people will end up in prison if that happened, and right now they're the ones writing (and rewriting) the rules and breaking the things they can't control.

It's going on in front of everyone's eyes and the consequences are just being ignored by most. It's mindboggling.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 4 days ago

I know a lot of people have been saying this, but we’ve seen some nice surprise Democrat election victories lately, mostly on smaller local elections for State judges/senators. There was also the recent attempt to overturn Justine Riggs election, which saw huge public outcry and failed.

It is reason to be optimistic, and the GOP has certainly had awareness of the importance of all those small local seats for a long time. So even if we presume they have some horrible, secret, nefarious way of manipulating results, I don’t think they can do that on enormous scales, or for every election.

Be cautious, but you don’t have to be pessimistic.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 4 days ago

I would be fucking SHOOK if the Dems actually did that in '26 instead of settling for wheeling Schumer out to waggle his finger at Trump. I honestly think the only reason they're attempting impeachment now is that they know it has virtually zero chance to go anywhere, so it's just politically useful theater.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 5 days ago (1 children)

I doubt Jan 6 would be allowed to happen again. 1. The police and military would be ready and waiting. 2. The rest of us will be ready and waiting.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 4 days ago (1 children)

I hope you'd be right in that case. If an impeachment of Trump got to a senate vote that was expected to pass (removing him from office), I just don't see him going quietly. Especially considering he would still be in control of the military and well loved by the cops.

I doubt that would come to pass though. The likelihood of the democrats getting enough votes to impeach and remove in 2026 seems far fetched. Especially since the current republican controlled congress is actively trying to pass voter suppression laws. Not to mention democratic voters don't turn out for midterms like they do for presidential elections. Maybe that changes, but from here it seems improbable.

Sounds good. But until he is marched into prison in a orange jumpsuit I’m not celebrating.

[–] [email protected] 64 points 5 days ago

Do those "legal experts" have the ability to enforce the law?

[–] [email protected] 9 points 5 days ago
[–] [email protected] 10 points 5 days ago

As I said in the other post ping me if this happens.
