This is why Republicans gerrymander so hard: metropolitan areas are liberal.

this is not true in general. I am not denying this, but in india, many indian metropolitans voted for conservative party (we do not have a 2 party system, so it is hard to call 1 party as conservative, but current govt is definitely very conservatives)

Well I'm referring to Salt Lake City and Utah, and I believe my statement is accurate and factual.

hence i added that i am not denying you, i expected you meant either with american context, or state specific

Glad you clarified that now, as it wasn't evident in your original comment - that just said 'metropolitan areas', which would generally be understood to mean all metropolitan areas.

Well the post is about Salt Lake City Utah. It would seem to be a reasonable inference.

Well, that was certainly unexpected. A surprise, but a pleasant one.

Biggest city in a very conservative state. It's an obvious destination for LGBTQ and other heathens. Really aren't that many stand out mormons here on any given day. Except for their semiannual general conference, which legitimately feels like a mormon invasion of the city.

I may have been born there, but I haven’t believed in invisible sky wizards since I was a small child.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Isn’t that true of Salt Lake City and Provo in general? That y’all have a little of what Tulsa and Norman are to Oklahoma? Beacons of sanity in a theocracy?

Not Provo. They start city council meetings with a prayer.

Which is as un-Christian as it gets.

And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.
