Trying my hand at digitising the slides from Nepal from 1998/9 on the cheap.

Basically 1970's high end german projector (with its original bulb!) showing slides on a white wall in the living room.. piccys / slides originally taken by a 1980's olympus analog cam then taking a photo with my pretty ordinary dslr.

Actually surprised it doesn't seem like the worst idea.

Once I finish Animal Kingdom I'll definitely be watching S2 of poker face!

Got a new vet today and he refused to perform cystocentis due to Melbcat having had 2 recently (?). Sent us home with pain relief to get a sample the traditional way despite how hard and unreliable it is with her.

Cut to Melbcat being very sooky and unwell tonight, getting a sample hours after closing but being unsure when she did it, and having to uber the dodgy sample in tomorrow while exhausted with no supports on. I’m going to ring the clinic on opening tomorrow and ask that antibiotics be dispensed when I bring it in because she absolutely has a uti.

If he had just listened to me she could have begun treatment tonight πŸ˜’

Long ass day.

The extended cat family and the fluffy freeloader have been fed.

Maybe I get to eat now?

[–] [email protected] 5 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago)

they look so healthy and their fur so silky

you must be feeding them the best food there is 🐱

another thing, I bet they keeping the local mouse population down πŸ‘

[–] [email protected] 7 points 3 weeks ago

May harvest (!).

Throwing a habs in dins tonight which I'll probably regret. Because the watering system has been off for a bit they could be a bit hawt.

I’m on a mobile and wondered why the bot chose the poo emoji for today’s thread, lol

Thank you all for voting in the f&c vs. home salmon competition. Your input was greatly appreciated in assisting with this monumental decision. Strong start for the f&c party but some very compelling arguments for home salmon later in the day. I was changing my mind every 5 mins. My entire ethics and personality were at stake...

However, i regret to betray everyone's enthusiasm and inform you all that out of nowhere a third, unexpected candidate appeared about an hour into my salon experience and increasingly gained on the others despite a complete lack of campaigning. In the end, for the reasons outlined below, I went with this reliable third party.

The winner: fish curry and calamari masala from MKS Spices.

please find below my reasoning for this upsetting result

  • Haircut got delayed by halfa.
  • Google maps showed a 30 min plus drive back and the f&c wasn't going to stay fresh.
  • Didn't want to eat at the shop and get full whack of traffic.
  • But also increasingly convinced I didn't want to cook tonight after waiting so long. Wanted to eat as soon as I got home and not have to brave my local overstimulating shops. Did not want to clean up oil etc after frying salmon. Got started on an ebook that I wanted to get back to straight away.
  • Developed craving for spice due to unexpected pangs of comfort-seeking.
  • F&c is everywhere but MKS-style food is few and far between. Unlikely I'd go for weeks.
  • MKS was just a 4 min drive away and didn't add much to my overall travel time.
  • Remembered I needed to buy frozen green chillies anyway.
  • Bought like 3 meals worth of food (sans rice) for like $25
  • Had leftover rice at home
  • Bonus: got to buy some fresh string hoppers to eat over the weekend (definitely not easy to get anywhere else near town).

thank you and please enjoy your respective dinners. 🍽️ πŸ› 🍲

This is the equivalent of if Pauline Hanson unexpectedly won the federal election somehow at the last minute

[–] [email protected] 6 points 3 weeks ago

No, it's the Greens goddammit! Pauline wouldn't put up with curry. She's the original f&c proprietor

out of nowhere a third, unexpected candidate appeared

boo

[–] [email protected] 5 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

I feel cheated!

Glad you were able to stock up though. πŸ™‚

[–] [email protected] 3 points 3 weeks ago

Yes, I grabbed some frozen cluster beans as well (I always have a craving for this but you can't ever get it fresh here). All in all a good outcome. Next two weeks will be busy so f&c remains an option then.

The new footstools are a touch small for a cat bed, but Miss Meow is giving it her best shot

[–] [email protected] 4 points 3 weeks ago

The contrast of her black fur against the pink lining almost looks 'shopped. Look at that cute bundle!

New attitude makes work a lot better.

While I'm there I'm in the zone. Then I'm done.

Nice and easy.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

That's great to hear. I am glad. I hope the new joint is working out better too.

I've had a couple of long days and have done four days in the office but that's actually helped my put it down after work. And finally starting to feel that work life split again. Stopped and stared at the water for a bit on the way home. Baby steps.

Today I am listening to a vintage LP of "Adventures with Skippy the bush kangaroo" , here's YT of it

it's so different to the tv series, this is written for radio and has Skippy's origin story https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yvxKHoAJeMI

maybe growing up watching Skippy is what makes me enraged when I see people illegally fishing, ostensibly with no consequences

I was summoned by my first name from my kid last night. The nerve of toddlers man! I was a bit disappointed. I was like "noooo.... my name is daddy" which I'm pretty sure just made it funnier to him.

I don't know if it's still the case but you used to be able to redeem partial bills in Australia. Who knows, a bank might give you $6 for it.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 3 weeks ago

it's pretty beat up got a rip and ink has worn off too

I'll keep it as a beach find πŸ™‚

[–] [email protected] 10 points 3 weeks ago

I broke the connecting strap of my little shoulder bag πŸ™

As today is a chill day before footy tonight, I'm venturing out for a new one

Miss Meow fully approves of the new L shape scratcher. So far she has been indifferent to the corner scratcher, I'll have to wait and see if she feels like investigating it after a nap.

I've also put plastic guards along the front of the couch and armchairs, which is her preferred scratching area but not mine.
