Having someone in their life like you who wants this for them (and knows some of the harder paths) will help them a lot. Knowing someone has your back and wants the best for you is one of the most important things. They are lucky to have you.

TOO LATE!! I figured I am fighting a losing battle because I need to open a window in the space I use for drying clothes. I put on the exhaust fan and will hope for the best

I would like pizza. I have a pizza base to use. But that would involve turning on the oven when my apartment is currently still cool. Dilemma.

Different strain -H1N1 which is around and comes and goes and is obviously a big issue in a poultry farm. It spreads like the flu and my understanding is that if melbcat is not out catching birds the odd bit of dirt from outside is not going to be an issue.

H5N1 is the strain that's decimating birds worldwide currently but not yet here. There have been a few cases of it transmitting to mammals (like pigs and cows and seals I think). It's effects in mammals are not really well known but worrying. If that starts doing the rounds then yeah it's time to watch and act, mainly because we don't know if, how, and how badly it might spread if it does get a grip in mammals.

But for now, I'd say a small group of maggies on your side is probably safer than some of the other shite in your neighbourhood! I would enjoy it.

You are doing amazing ๐ŸคŸ

four potatoes, three capsicum, one zucchini, three carrots, one eggplant, on quarter pumpkin, three parsnips, two onions

I got a $30 mystery veggie box from QVM and am planning my weeks food. Thought I would share here for a bit of fun to see what other suggestions I get. I also have some chuck steak in the freezer and a pretty good pantry.

My ideas so far include

  • pumpkin and parsip soup
  • maybe grilling those capsicums as a side dish
  • mashed potatoes and a hearty stew (onions and carrots)

But I am open to suggestions!

What is your meal planning style? Any good meal planning tips?

I am trying to get better at meal planning because I always start off strong then get bored / run out of food at the end of the week. For while I have been doing a big cook on Sunday but this week I am trying a basic menu and cook as I go. Hoping that having a plan will make it easier.

My plan (one person) is

  • red lentil curry + coconut rice (3 serves made today)
  • instant pot spag Bol (3 serves made Monday night)
  • a beef stir-fry (X 2 serves) made wed night
  • quick ramen noodles + stock and frozen veg in between

Ideally I would prep veg today but I have been away and am tired and can't be bothered so will prep as I go.

What other things are people doing?

Fingers crossed its not H5N1.

Anyone have an instant pot? Any foolproof recipes? I just got one (thanks Santa) and wondering where to start.
