Tesla’s sales in several key European markets continue to decline sharply in Q2 2025, despite the new Model Y, which was blamed for disappointing sales in the first quarter, now being available.

Over the past couple of years, Tesla’s sales in Europe have been declining.

In 2024, Tesla delivered 11% fewer vehicles in Europe compared to 2023 – despite having ramped up production at its Gigafactory Berlin, where it produces Model Ys for the European market.

While this was already a bad sign for Tesla, sales started to decline at a much sharper rater in 2025 compared to an already bad 2024.

Excellent. I hope they go out of business.

Good. It's scary that I'm starting to notice more and more cyberfuck muskrat mobiles in my area. It's expected though... I do live in the rural-ish south...

[–] [email protected] 7 points 18 hours ago

Fuck Tesla.

Good.

I love to see the plans of evil mfers fail occasionally. It's good for the soul.

Doesn't mean much. He's corruptioned himself into enough GovCo contracts to stay the richest man in the world forever. Not to mention all the theft with Doge.

But it is good to see Tesla's decline.

That's because it's not about the car, new model or not.

[–] [email protected] 20 points 1 day ago

Tesla's get the side eye get grimace looks in their largest markets. See a Tesla car or Y and it's at a minimum you think that's sad if they bought that years ago and now drive around with that stigma. See a truck and you don't want to meet the driver. Tesla's are social poison now

Buy the new body style and we know you bought it after Elon went full Nazi.

[–] [email protected] 11 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Y would anyone in the EU buy one when there are so many better and cheaper options available to them? Musk even said on the latest earnings call that the cars aren't the profit motive and his blueman group extra will be the future of robotics. Ignoring the fact that Optimus is decades behind the competition and with the Trump Tariffs will be impossible to build in the US....

The Final model.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Remember Tesla sales in EU were already low in 2024. So when they decline here as much as they do compared to that, it's actually worse compared to 2023!

Analysts here (Denmark) say that Tesla will probably never come back to 2023 levels!

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I doubt they'll ever return to 2025 levels

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 day ago

I doubt that too, Tesla car production is running at a deficit already, so even if Musk leaves, they can't really make better value products to win customers back with, and they are already losing to the competition in both China and EU.

Has anyone else noticed any slightly negative comment on YouTube regarding Musk/Tesla gets immediately shadow banned?

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Nope, I've made a few myself without problems.
For instance about the 30% failure rate at first mandatory security check in Denmark for model 3.

When I post something about Musk/Tesla it posts successfully, I get replies to the thread, and I can see my post, but if I view the same thread without being logged in, my reply is missing.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 day ago (1 children)

When you are logged in, it shows your own posts more prominently.
How would people reply if you were shadow banned?

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Sorry I should have clarified; the notifications on replies are when I reply to someone else’s post. If I start a new thread I just notice I don’t get any replies or notifications. My posts are just removed completely, I’d say it happens to around 50% of my comments on YT. I suspect I’ve been mass-reported by right wing bots, and my account is now marked for extra censorship in some way.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 day ago

OK, but I can criticize Tesla no problem, so it's not a general thing AFAIK.

English is 2nd language, so it took me a second to realize that being the last model, would mean there will never be another one from Tesla!! 😋

[–] [email protected] 88 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I expect the new models to be harmful to sales.

Because tesla rarely makes changes to their cars year over year, you can buy a tesla now and have one that looks like you bought it before elon publicly went off the deep end. There's still plausible deniability with most of their models.

But now, anyone buying a model Y is getting a car that obviously could only have been purchased during trump's second term. There's no plausible deniability. The distinctive front and rear light bars scream:

"I chose to buy this car after watching the CEO do the nazi salute twice on national television."

[–] [email protected] 24 points 1 day ago

Never thought of that, but this is a very good point IMO.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 day ago (3 children)

For the love of god Europe just ban them why give this piece of shit any more money

[–] [email protected] 18 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I would rather see them fail in the open market. Things are going well.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 day ago

Yes, this is much more satisfying than a ban. Plus failing in the market likely has a larger financial hit than not being in a market at all (e.g. due to a ban).

[–] [email protected] 9 points 1 day ago

Then he'd just claim victimhood by European persecution and ask his buddy in the white house for another concession.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 1 day ago

Isn't it more satisfying to just not buy a Tesla? That people choose not to.

[–] [email protected] 11 points 1 day ago (2 children)

I mean, who wants to drive a nazi mobil?

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 day ago

Still super popular here in Australia

[–] [email protected] 17 points 1 day ago
[–] [email protected] 58 points 1 day ago

It’s not until the last sentence of the article that they acknowledge what’s most likely the actual cause for the rapid fall off in sales.

Tesla is being squeezed out of the European market, in large part due to most consumers’ dislike for its CEO.

[–] [email protected] 15 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Y would anyone want one of those

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 day ago

You mean one of those model whyyyy's?

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 day ago

They just had to redesign it with the cybertruck motif.

I wonder if they will become the new Beetle in decades to come.

I doubt it as they're not exactly 'cars for the people'.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Absolutely not, the beetle became legendary for its unique cuteness and charm.
How would you imagine anything like that for any Tesla?

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Ford survived, despite him being a full blown Nazi CEO about a century ago.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

a century ago.

And I don't see how it's relevant to Tesla cars not having anything near the charm of the beetle.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 day ago

Only because it was made by a 'new Hitler' but as I said, quite unlikely.

Just a random thought.
