During a major Oval Office address on Friday, President Trump and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth introduced a new sixth-generation fighter jet costing $20 billion. In an unbelievable move, Trump named the jet after himself — the F47 — emphasizing his place in history as President of the United States.

"The F47 will be the most advanced, capable, and lethal aircraft ever built. We're confident that it overpowers the capabilities of any nation," he said before adding: "47 is a lovely number, isn't it."

I did not connect f47 to him because i can only see it as "fat"

Another distraction from things that actually matter. This will have no material impact on anyone's life, but will dilute the news cycle.

Old fashioned, unreliable, can’t get off the ground…

[–] [email protected] 37 points 1 week ago

And they released a concept study, too:

More on news tonight.... A new F-47 has evaded capture for a second time this week by shooting bone spurs and safety doors...

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 week ago

And they gonna sell it to which other countries?

[–] [email protected] 26 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I actually do not care. Don't get distracted, people!

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 week ago (1 children)

You don't care, but think about the people who might.

A lot of Soviet generals walked away from Gorbachev over smaller insults than this.

I'll take it, but, bruh

With Boeing showing a gross lack of quality and poor engineering in every project recently, them building a trump-named fighter makes a twisted sort of sense. I suppose it will just limp to the target area and than explode itself, for some astronomical amount of money. As usual lately, Putin will be very pleased.

The world news said it wasn't for Trumps name I thought. They said it was for the year the Air Force started. An Air Force officer or someone high up got to choose and they chose the number. Trump just likes it because he's a narcissist.

  • It only flies to Greenland.
  • Gold interior with marble gauges.
  • The flight computer rambles on about someone trying to get inside when no one is around.

  • Seats smell very faintly of pee
  • On an unrelated note, the dashcam says "made in the USSR" for some reason
  • It's not a bomber, technically, but it does bomb a lot
  • but don't use that mode deliberately, because the ballistic system gets very confused sometimes and targets golf courses instead
  • ...I can't think of any more lame jokes, I've not had my morning covfefe
[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 week ago

Have you had your covfefe by now?

I thought the era of fighter jets was ending with lasers making them obsolete. By the time this thing sees the light of day, it should be garbage, right?

[–] [email protected] 71 points 1 week ago (4 children)

So it will be an overly expensive, bloated, but ultimately ineffective jet that will become known for its much higher rate of friendly fire incidents than any other jet in history.

Also it will look ugly and have oddly small wings.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 week ago

I think Boeing escaped the law in the end? So yeah. Your prediction looks accurate to me.

[–] [email protected] 11 points 1 week ago

A 6-gen fueling system where it will be powered by praises alone and a suction system to eliminate waste.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 week ago (1 children)

It also has remote access capabilities used exclusively by Putin, but people seem totally fine with that part because the jet was promised to only be used to hurt the right people.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 week ago

Don't forget the weird livery that is oddly orange and seemingly missing around all of the ports. Oh and it's fat.

Oof, sucks to be the team of engineers who made this thing. Naming it 47 guarantees it will be the laughing stock of the military. I don't care if its the most advanced jet in the world. With this target on its back it will get trash talked until the day they retire it.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 week ago

Wait. Is this motherfucker jealous that he isn't Canadian? Is this just projection?

My retired neighbor has an F-45 Tshirt that he procured during his first term.

That's literally the Nato name for the su-57, the Russian attempt to make a 5gen fighter.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 week ago

M-3110N then?

[–] [email protected] 8 points 1 week ago (2 children)

So we have the legendaries:

P51 Mustang

F14 Tomcat

F22 Raptor

A10 Warthog

F117 Nighthawk

SR71 Blackbird

And then:

F47 Trump? 🤢🤮🤮🤮

It's gonna suck seeing that in aviation history books.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 week ago

What's the difference between an A10 and an F47?

One's named after an ugly, foul-smelling pig and the other is a Warthog.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 week ago

F47 Krasnov
