"Zelenskyy misunderstood the conditions of the ceasefire. You see, the US and Russia agreed that Ukraine would no longer launch attacks against Russia. We didn't say anything about the other way around. Ukraine needs to start understanding the terms of the ceasefire we're agreeing to on their behalf if they want to show they're serious about ending a war they started."
-- JD Vance, probably.
Get him by the ego. Let Trump know that this is clear evidence that Putin doesn't respect him.
Heh, maybe it will work, but from what I remember, the disaster on that disaster meeting started when Zelenskyy said that putin doesn't honor any agreement.
Another thing is that given how quickly he stopped delivery of ammunition, means this was planned since the transition, so the spectacle was purposefully done.
There's a small chance that this time could be seen as different as Putin broke a "deal" with Trump.
Putin breaking agreements with other people, ok, but Trump considers himself different and those don't count.
Having Trump be directly involved in a broken deal might be enough of an affront to bother Trump.
Long shot, more likely Putin rationalizes it away to Trump somehow
I was hopeful during transition and until Gabbard was sworn in. That's when he showed his true intentions.
Biden set him so well, that he could be remembered as the person that dissolved Russia and have statues built in Ukraine of himself, but he still went with Russia.
Though I would love to be proven wrong.
Moscow has been very friendly to him consistently since the 80s. All flattery and benefit, with zero demanded of him.
Ukraine is that country that declined to make up stuff about Biden in an incident that blew up into his first impeachment.
So I didn't have high hopes
Sounds like an incredible waste of time to me, but I guess as the leader of a country he has to do something.
Not at all... Last time he came to the white house, the world watched. The EU (defense council?) met with him as soon as he flew back, and pledged like 1.5 trillion to fund defense spending, and plans to put boots on the ground moved forward
Now he's going to come back, show he's devoted to peace, and Trump is probably going to ambush him again - demonstrating again that the US is not a reliable ally and drumming up more support
