number one, ew, ai slop, number two, i appreciate concern for americans getting more nutritious sources of protein and fiber but blaming consumers for lacking access to and time for better food is not a great strategy in my opinion

How do people set up these AI systems so that they can get around guardrails? This is awesome!

[–] uuldika@lemmy.ml 9 points 4 days ago (2 children)

wait, why would you need to bypass guardrails for this?

[–] 1rre@discuss.tchncs.de 3 points 4 days ago

Gemini and Copilot are often overly cautious with their guardrails on generating anything violent or misinformation, although super easy to bypass in most cases

Images are a lot easier to create "good enough" generations of locally compared to text and video... I imagine the driving force is probably horny people like 99% of other innovations on the internet

No you see the Americans have all been starving because they can't afford their eggs anymore.

Inb4 unleashing bird flu is RFK's plan to combat the US obesity epidemic.

Just eat something else holy shit.

I get that the price of eggs is shorthand for the price of all food, which has gone up, but eggs specifically have gotten so expensive that egg substitute is about the same price at this point.

Only fresh pasta is made with eggs, dry pasta typically doesn't use eggs. It's semolina durum wheat and water, pushed through copper dies and then dried.

Durum wheat semolina and water.

What do you suggest as an easy healthy source of protein?

[–] volvoxvsmarla@lemm.ee 14 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago) (3 children)

Legumes like beans, lentils, peas, hummus, chickpeas,

Oats, quinoa, amaranth, buckwheat, whole wheat products,

Tofu in its various forms, including silk tofu as egg replacement in pancakes,

Other "meat substitutes" like seitan or sunflower seed mince,

Nuts, nut butters, nut flour,

Dairy products such as cottage cheese, joghurt,

Soy milk

I mean for real, eggs are super unnecessary for a protein rich or healthy diet. I would argue that unless you literally want to treat yourself with a sunny side up or an omelette you shouldn't be using eggs at all. I like eggs, but a dozen lasts us (family of 3) a month easily.

Seitan is also very high in protein, containing 75g of protein per 100g compared to 13g per 100g for scrambled eggs (although its low on lysine, so it should be balanced out with other protein sources).

I like to airfry beans and eat them as a crunchy snack.

For breakfast specifically, oatmeal isn't a bad choice.

What's "EU AID"? Is that a real thing?

[–] Imhotep@lemmy.world 7 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago) (1 children)

Oh it's real. There was a big fundraiser at my sons school, with each kid bringing about a dozen eggs.

This was after a documentary on tv which moved a lot of people called "un oeuf is not enough" showing american families not able to afford eggs

Here in the Midwest we generally have our family egg for lunch on Sunday. Ever since Grandad passed we've been able to make thicker slices, but Sissy's little one is getting to the age that we're going to have to go back to thinner slices soon. We're just fortunate that we're able to get our weekly egg, so we're not complaining.

[–] humanspiral@lemmy.ca 0 points 4 days ago

Is there a EU member that agreed to send US eggs?

[–] taiyang@lemmy.world 27 points 4 days ago (2 children)

AI slop kind of reads like a real life political cartoon given all the flags and a guy literally wearing an AMERICA shirt, as one does of course.

[–] stebo02@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 4 days ago

no that's exactly what Americans would wear

[–] EldritchFeminity@lemmy.blahaj.zone 13 points 4 days ago (1 children)

I mean, have you seen what we wear in the US? American flags are on basically every house and half of the shirts, hats, and pants.

[–] taiyang@lemmy.world 6 points 4 days ago

We are our own parody, I suppose.

[–] My_IFAKs___gone@lemmy.world 34 points 4 days ago

They definitely don't look entitled and angry enough. Some even seem to exhibit hints of appreciation and humility, which would cause a dimensional rift in the real world. I've never seen a less accurate depiction of what this event would actually look like.
