I'm not sure you've been paying attention lately. These people are not paragons of virtue and they won't be making a press release about getting paid off.
If I were keeping an eye on a species that was mostly comprised of individuals who couldn't create or repair said species most destructive technologies but were imminently willing to use them I'd make it my business to know what I was dealing with. 🤷
