Soppressata. A cured Italian meat with a tangier taste than pepperoni. It’s delicious!
A drizzle of honey is pretty damn good on pepperoni pizza
Hot honey
Basil. Feta. Kalamata olives.
Italian sausage. No, I know everyone likes it, but that's still not capturing its full glory: it is the best topping, but most people are like 'yeah it's alright but it's no pepperoni'. No, it's better than pepperoni, and therefore underrated.
I hate pepperoni, team sausage & mushrooms, all the way. The worst is pepperoni that curls into a bowl shape and holds grease, ick.
Kale
Artichokes are so good on pizza
Olives, Feta
Added some spinach, diced tomatoes, maybe some onions, Greek pizza baby! Amazing pizza.
Not a topping but mustard as a dipping sauce for my pizza crust. I’m not a crust person. But dipping dry crunchy crust into mustard almost feels like eating a pretzel.
Tastes great with pepperoni too.
sliced reconstituted in wine dried figs with sautéed onion.
that is kinda genius
Chopped hazelnuts. I add them if I ever have home cooked pizza
Cashew, chicken, cranberry and Camembert is a good combo.
dang i gotta try this four c's pizza
Anchovies. Salty oily goodness
I used to get it on my pizza at work knowing none of my coworkers would steal it.
None of the pizza places near me even have it as a topping 😭
Rucola, also known as arugula or rocket.
Sweet potato!
I've only seen it available at one pizza place and would get it with chicken, bacon, and a barbeque-sauce base.
Edit: The lobster pizza I had in Maine was pretty good too. They put lobster on everything up there!
Potato.
I mean, have you ever seen potato on a pizza? I haven't.
When I was in college the pizza place in the student union building did a loaded baked potato pizza. Slices were like 4cm tall! Russet potato, cheddar, green onions and bacon. It was the same price as the other topped pizza slices and one slice would fill me up for the day. Miss that. Never seen it anywhere else.
Boston Pizza:
Yes, back around 24 years ago I was picking my sister up from her university and went into the student union building. The pizza place inside had a pizza with potatoes, broccoli and some kind of meat. I believe it was called the Sunday dinner pizza.
Mashed potatoes on pizza is incredible and I'm being 100% serious
I've been working my way through the pizzas at Pizza Artesanal.
The roasted potato and roasted pumpkin cream were two toppings that really stood out as surprisingly delicious.
I have an anti-topping suggestion: no cheese. Try it, especially if you like lots of different toppings and veg. You'll actually be able to taste them without that bitter yellow slime enveloping everything.
I'm not a vegan or anything. I just think pizza is so much better without cheese.
I started making vegan pizzas this way. Deconstruct the red sauce too and just use sliced tomatoes, spices and olive oil as the base, then fresh veggies on top. It's like bruschetta pizza.
If you want to go no-cheese and are missing a little umami flavor, like the savory you'd get from Parmesan, sprinkle on nutritional yeast. If you are missing the creamy flavor of mozzarella, cashew paste in little pearls all over the pie works
If a pizza place has bad cheese it isn't worth eating. Only eat pizza with good cheese
pickled red onions
Nutella, cheese, crushed almonds, and Salmon.
Officer, this post right here ^
Gyro meat. It's like sausage but better. Fantastic with Canadian bacon and salami.
Also, salami.
Shrimp.
Shrimp and bacon with a pesto sauce instead of red sauce is one of my fav pizzas.
Pineapple. Deal with it.
Pepperoni pineapple all day. It's the best. Fight me.
Hell yeah! With extra red chili flakes. Sweet and spicy. I'm down to fight tho, let's go
No, my friend. For it is true.
I do pineapple and bacon instead of the pineapple and ham combo and I think it is far superior.
And for even more exciting flair, I think Korean fried chicken sauce is good on pizza too, with the earthy and spicy gochujang, garlic, and sesame. I'll add it to any pizza, plain, pepperoni, or pineapple bacon.
I can't 😭
Pineapple ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
