I guess Trump didn't grab enough (pussy) delegates, this time.

Everyone should hang in and resist the slide toward fascism, even if that's Neocon Republican types like Haley.

I'm cheering her on if only because any of her wins has to burn another ulcer in Trump's stomach.

Plus, Biden might be able to beat Trump again; I'm not so sure how he'd do against Haley, especially after she'd pivot post-primary to more moderate center messaging.

I'm still glad she's hanging in there being a distraction for Trump. She's definitely going to lead the party ticket in 2028, though. This is just a pre-game practice for her, and the Democrat party better be paying attention. I mean, assuming Trump fails to turn his presidency into a perpetual dictatorship a-la Putin, which is still on the bingo board.

After opposing their God-King? I wouldn't be so sure unless they make some drastic changes.

Lol as if Presidente Trump is going to repeat the mistake of allowing another election

His supporters would probably back constitutional change removing the term limit, so a "good" president can stay in for longer

A woman of color running to be the face of the Republican party..... 🤦‍♂️

Right wing Indian Americans unironically think they're "Aryan" when the Nazis start up their spiels, they seem to genuinely believe they're in the club. There's actually a pretty interesting historical interaction between the Hindu nationalist movements and Nazism.

Nikki's kind of weird, though. Her parents were Sikh, and she says she's Christian, but I tend to assume political religious believers have only one tenet of faith, the tenet of personal gain.

I've known a number of gay republicans who are the same way and super antitrans, in their minds there's no universe where that'd ever backfire on them once the trans folk are successfully eliminated.

I've never understood these people who are like "I get it...... Til I don't, THEN I HATE IT." Like, gay republicans understand that gay hatred is misguided and stupid and born of falsehoods like waking up one day deciding dick is the way - then give that same ignorant hatred to the next marginalized group.

I have a friend, generic cis woman. Borderline leftist. Pro worker, pro woman/abortion/autonomy, pro gay, generally live and let live, BUT self professed TERF. Workers? Oppressed folk just trying to live life. Women? Oppressed folk just trying to live life. Gays, POC? Oppressed folk just trying to live life.

Trans folk? Trans women aren't real, they're men stealing womanhood and femininity right out from under real women's noses and must be stopped.

I DON'T GET IT. I don't understand how you can just have such an arbitrary wall where it's like "Hate is bullshit and we're ALL being kept down and fucked.......... Except THEM. They're comically sat morning cartoon evil."

I'm hoping that this one loss irritates him forever, like having a tiny rock in his shoe that he can't seem to get rid of.

I think she knows she's a protest vote.

What are the rules if Trump suddenly dies? I can't imagine they just crown her the nomination.

I think all his delegates would become unbound and there could be a floor fight at the convention if someone steps up to challenge Haley.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 8 months ago* (last edited 8 months ago)

They would just Weekend at Bernie's him.

Someone could expose the whole charade before the end of the Primaries... And he'd still get the nomination.

I think the real reason that Koch foundation, etc al, funded her campaign until last week was still that they'd have somebody qualified in case it's rolled that Trump is ineligible.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 8 months ago

Trump cannot be ineligible, he installed too many SCOTUS seats to be vulnerable to mere laws.

[–] [email protected] 17 points 8 months ago (1 children)

There really aren't any. No candidate has withdrawn or died before the election, and nobody ever really considered the possibility even as candidate ages grow older and older.

[–] [email protected] 80 points 8 months ago (4 children)

If she can win ~5 states I think she gets to make certain demands at the convention. Such as giving a speech or requiring a platform be written.

No Haley fan, but I am interested to see what or if her plan here is.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 8 months ago

She's a republican, they haven't had a cohesive plan or platform, except to be obstructionists, for years.

...but I agre, it would be interesting to see her be a pain in trumps (very large) ass for awhile longer

[–] [email protected] 69 points 8 months ago* (last edited 8 months ago)

Her plan is to be there as soon as Trump goes to prison to say "I'm here, not in prison, and I'm ready to run the country".

Don't mind the fact that project 2025 will be implemented with any Republican candidate.
