Are there any scrapers who repost Marketplace ads?
Ask Lemmy
A Fediverse community for open-ended, thought provoking questions
Rules: (interactive)
1) Be nice and; have fun
Doxxing, trolling, sealioning, racism, and toxicity are not welcomed in AskLemmy. Remember what your mother said: if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all. In addition, the site-wide Lemmy.world terms of service also apply here. Please familiarize yourself with them
2) All posts must end with a '?'
This is sort of like Jeopardy. Please phrase all post titles in the form of a proper question ending with ?
3) No spam
Please do not flood the community with nonsense. Actual suspected spammers will be banned on site. No astroturfing.
4) NSFW is okay, within reason
Just remember to tag posts with either a content warning or a [NSFW] tag. Overtly sexual posts are not allowed, please direct them to either [email protected] or [email protected].
NSFW comments should be restricted to posts tagged [NSFW].
5) This is not a support community.
It is not a place for 'how do I?', type questions.
If you have any questions regarding the site itself or would like to report a community, please direct them to Lemmy.world Support or email [email protected]. For other questions check our partnered communities list, or use the search function.
6) No US Politics.
Please don't post about current US Politics. If you need to do this, try [email protected] or [email protected]
Reminder: The terms of service apply here too.

This page seems to say it just links to facebook groups? https://buynothingproject.org/find-a-group
I also can't see a way of finding groups without making an account.
https://www.freecycle.org/ is a good option, and can be browsed without an account.
They have their own app that i use. They started on fb then set up app and continue the fb groups, but i haven’t been on fb in years
Didn’t know about freecycle thanks
just want to browse what is out there.
If you don't specifically want Facebook Marketplace, there's stuff like Craigslist and eBay.
EDIT: It looks like if you go directly to the Facebook Marketplace page rather than the main page at Facebook, it'll let you search and browse Facebook Marketplace (or it let me do so, at any rate):
https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/
I did get a popup asking me to log in, but I closed that and was able to do searches.
far as I know, you can't. they want your sweet sweet monetizable personal data. for Meta, every human interaction needs to be commodified, sold for ad revenue, and charged back to you as a subscription or AI pump and dump scheme.
I use Craigslist personally, the founder has repeatedly refused to sell his business or users data.
from the article:
By design, the company doesn't make a single cent on most transactions. ... If you've ever used Craigslist, you've probably noticed it hasn't changed much since the 1990s. No sleek designs or flashy updates – just a simple, functional interface. "People want it simple, fast and effective," Craig said.
Over the years, venture capitalists have approached Craig with massive offers, urging him to monetize more aggressively or sell. They saw a gold mine in Craigslist's scale and suggested ads, subscriptions or transaction fees. But Craig wasn't interested.
"I don't need billions," he said. "I've met a bunch of rich people and none of them are all that happy."
Craiglist is close to perfect. If only they had a Personals section.
Make a burner account. That's about it, as far as I know.
only thing is FB requires you to take selfies to "verify that you are real"
fucking joke, honestly
Seriously? Fuck that.
If you have a color printer you could try printing out an image from [this website](https://thispersondoesnotexist.com/( in front of your face and let it take that photo. Might be more hassle than it's worth though.
It requires multiple angles of your face, unfortunately
Dystopia type shit
I tried making a burner with a fake email to view Marketplace, but stopped when it asked for pics
OfferUp and craigslist can be decent for local stuff depending on your area
just don’t use FB
This is incredibly unhelpful. A huge amount of civilian commerce exists solely on marketplace at our current juncture.
And by continuing to use it,
it will stay that way.
Just don't, plenty of other 2nd hand sites out there, with plenty of products available.
