Welcome to the discussion of US Politics!

Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

These tech broligarchs are the whiniest fucking piss baby weenies on the planet. These are the representatives of American power right now. What a fucking disgrace.

What a bitch.

Luckily for Zuckerberg, then, Meta isn't unfairly punished. It's going to be punished quite fairly.

[–] [email protected] 19 points 2 days ago

Meta just asking to be fined in the EU.

[–] [email protected] 15 points 2 days ago

Meta is the Karen of tech companies.

[–] [email protected] 55 points 2 days ago (1 children)

That's literally a threat to their sovereignty.

They should say "fuck that", block Meta, and seize all his European assets until he falls in line.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 days ago

The EU is way too liberal to seize his assets. This will never happen. They'll gladly bow down to the US hegemony and the US fascist regime before they lift a finger. We'll just hear a bunch of strong words of condemnation (if we even hear anything at all lol) and that's about it.

What a fucking man child.

I'm still having hard time processing that these are the kind of fuckers that the world has to bend its knees too. These billionaires are fucking parasites to all and need to go straight to the guillotine.

Time for anyone who doesn't live within the USA to dump all USA tech. No need to "go after" governments, if the people in those countries simply do not use any USA companies. We do not need META (Facebook, Instagram, Threads, WhatsApp), Musk (SpaceX, Twitter, Neuralink, SolarCity, Tesla), Bezos (Amazon, Whole Foods, Washington Post, Audible, IMDb, MGM,Twitch, Ring, Alexa), etc.

[–] [email protected] 24 points 2 days ago

God these tech billionaires have such thin skin. Bunch of whiney bitch boys, the lot of 'em!

[–] [email protected] 30 points 2 days ago (1 children)

EU should block Meta full stop.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 days ago

God, what a bright, glorious day that would be.

[–] [email protected] 33 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Do they realize the EU is a foreign group of countries, with separate legislation and autonomous power?

[–] [email protected] 22 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

Literally no. They can not wrap their heads around the idea that other people have agency.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I assume they expect them to cower to political/economic threats. Which they may do.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Or not. Thinga are getting heated and there are people losing patience with these extremists.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

But probably they will, sadly.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 days ago

We will have to wait and see. And press matters against politians, if things start to go awry.

[–] [email protected] 21 points 2 days ago

Fucking temper tantrum whiney little bitch.

Daddy T, I'm not getting my way, make them do what I want!

[–] [email protected] 33 points 2 days ago

This whole MAGA thing is one giant oedipus complex

[–] [email protected] 36 points 3 days ago (4 children)

Zuck is such a beta.

Also, they were banned with Russia and China, maybe start w there

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 days ago

In Russia because of Putin's opposition being there. Prob same in China.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 2 days ago

Cuckerberg. It’s right there.

[–] [email protected] 16 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I cannot for the life of me imagine being worth $200B and still being willing to kiss anyone's ass, let alone Trump's.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 days ago

even if meta went poof tomorrow he could never work another day in his life and live more lavishly than 99.9% of all humans who have ever lived.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 3 days ago (1 children)

I think that’s the starting point anyway. WWIII, fought over Facebook 🤦‍♂️

[–] [email protected] 5 points 2 days ago

Trump will not fight war against China or Russia, except “trade war” which is hurting Americans more than China. .

[–] [email protected] 7 points 3 days ago

People need to leave their personality cult echo chamber human cattle factory facilitators based in the US.

[–] [email protected] 20 points 3 days ago

Holy cow Zucky literally calls him Big Daddy

[–] [email protected] 25 points 3 days ago

Death to Meta.

[–] [email protected] 47 points 3 days ago (1 children)

I'm thinking Mark needs the EU more than they need him...

[–] [email protected] 19 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Yeah if they shut out Facebook I’m willing to bet a properly funded EU-based company could fairly quickly build up similar infrastructure. /srs

Pushing an open-source alternative like Friendica would be ideal but either way the globally anti-competitive nature of giant social corporations has gone on too long; a breaking point for innovation is overdue.

Given that the EU has accounts on Mastodon, why not check all the list and make every government in the EU have their own AP servers? Not only Mastodon but Lemmy, Pixelfed, Peertube, ...
