White nationalists are just the same as white supremacists. If there are Jewish people who think Christian Nationalism will protect them, they're forgetting that Nazis were and are very Christian.

Authoritarian leaders turn on their own people and supporters all the time, this has been proven time and again in history. Whatever America is now though, there is still hope in the judiciary and the constitution.

They're forgetting about "Group 13" as well.

In what let's call the Jewish diaspora there is a strong thread of fascism. The fascists currently (and for some time now) are in control of the israeli government. If the israeli people were not in support of such fascism they are doing a poor job of expressing it. Globally fascism among jews is not universal, probably not even a majority though I have no hard data here. Anecdotally among the Jewish people I know there is one rabidly fascist of the kill all the Palestinians ilk, a few who claim not to support genocide but will get loud and in your face at any criticism of it and many who are disgusted by it and will openly say so. Your mileage may vary.

I think it’s fair to say that when people are facing an existential threat they find it hard to criticize that which protects them. People should just be anti-genocide because leaders cannot be trusted all the time. But what are the chances that the Muslim citizens in Arab countries would protest if a genocide happens to their perceived enemies? Sometimes the best defense people have against authoritarianism is empathy, don’t let something happen to someone else that you don’t want happening to you.

Edit downvotes explain yourself? I am just being brigaded by extremists on every post.

Notice how the state of Israel has nothing to say about this?

That (nazi salute) isn't antisemitic at all!

[–] [email protected] 10 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (4 children)

For fuck sake.

My point was that while Independent Jewish leaders are calling for the boycott. The State of Israel on the other hand, is holding hands up with Trump like a tag team.

That's because Isreal has been slowly co-opted by xenophobic right wing extramists under the guise of survival.

Always has been. Pre WW2 socialist Jewish currents pretty much all unanimously opposed Zionism.

Holy shit. The Zionist part of the organisation has completely eaten the anti-hate part.

The salute is just a symbol of much larger antisemitic moves by Elon. It's not hard to find neo Nazis posting swastikas and the like on X and many Jewish users have indicated that reporting those images goes nowhere despite them being specifically enumerated as banned in the official terms of use. There's plenty of evidence out there that Elon is in fact a far right racist if not outright Nazi.

A rich white guy from South Africa might be a nazi? I hardly believe it!

What are the Holocaust Jokes referenced in the title? Didn't find an explanation in the article.

For context, I'm a German missing out on many news and stories, for sanity reasons. But I'd like to know more about this.

Elon's response to the world saying they saw a Nazi salute at the presidential inauguration. Not quite an "oops, I didn't mean it that way"

[–] [email protected] 17 points 1 month ago (1 children)

The fact that 152 thousand people hearted that post is so disheartening.

Oh, WOW! Glad I asked. Will happily add this to a conversation with a 'skeptical' friend.

Honestly, I found some genuinely funny and actually laughed. But I would never share stuff like that in public, if at all, certainly not in a position like Musk, especially not after that salute. Guess he's testing the waters or normalizing.

Anyways, thanks a lot for the info with screenshot! Once more, reality trumps satire. When asking the question, I thought it might be about some hints here and there requiring interpretation. I did not expect something so blatant.

yeah, I think context really matters here. He also made these jokes on Jan 23, the day that Auschwitz was liberated, and is held as a day of remembrance. He's got a dog train whistle.
