As much as we are joking about him, please do NOT underestimate the power that this shit stain has. People underestimated trump twice and twice we ended up with trump presidencies

There are a lot of vaporware brain idiots out there that lap up every word he says

Make Europe Great Again! Like how it was in 1940!!!

That is what he wants, right? He's all smoochy smoochie with far right European politicians, he's already "Hitler wasnt as bad as we think" wink wink...

Maybe he forgot how that great period ended, and what we did with the top level players, back then... Maybe he should be reminded about that?

I mean, obviously he forgot about all the pain and suffering and the millions of deaths, and he definitely doesn't care about that, but narsismusk loves himself over everything else, so a reminder of hour Nazi leaders ended might not be a bad idea

Elon is succeeding in uniting the world against billionaires.

We haven't forgotten that time he used Starlink to benefit Russia over Ukraine, around the time he was cosying up to Putin.

[–] [email protected] 16 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I would love to see him go to Europe and try to convince them all the rights they have there, need to be gotten rid of. 😂

"Listen, I know you get maternity leave, but you gotta ask yourself, is that hurting the billionaire class?"

in other words please dont spread to Europe, stay beneign if possible

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 month ago

Usually trends tend to spread from America to Europe, sooner or later. McDonalds, movies, series, software, obesity, ridiculously large pick-up trucks, fascism. Okay, the latter was first exported to the States, like pizza, but it now returns in full swing.

[–] [email protected] 13 points 1 month ago

President Musk can fuck right off. Wtf does he know about Europe...

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 month ago (1 children)

How do you get a negative “approval rating”? Wouldn’t the lowest be 0% ?

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 month ago

Presumably 0% is neutral, -100% everyone disapproves.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 1 month ago (3 children)

What does -78% approval rating mean?

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 month ago

+100%: everyone loves him; 0%: nobody cares, or the love and hate are equally balanced; -100%: everyone hates him. It's clearer than a 0-100 scale with nobody cares at 50% because positive-only results imply a level of approval.

A typo most likely. I think its referencing this

btw, someone happen to remember the tool to view tweets without giving the shit heel traffic?

If i had to guess, a 22% approval rating but -78 sounds bigger?

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Or it is a two-way poll, e.g. how would you rate musk from 100% favorable to 100% unfavorable, and it averages out for 78% unfavorable

I also think that many Europeans are pessimistic about the future. The reason for this is Musk, Trump and their cronies. It is the lingering concern that things could get as bad in Europe as they are in the US.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 month ago (1 children)

What is "This will lead to the end of Europe" even supposed to mean? Will every inhabitant die? Will the land mass disintegrate?

[–] [email protected] 9 points 1 month ago (1 children)

It is probably some wink at replacement theory stuff based on the parties he is supporting.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 month ago

Europe already "ended" and had "replacement" events so many times in the past it's hard to keep track. Yet it's still there.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 1 month ago (1 children)

If Trump starts with tariffs, EU can ban X and Tesla as retaliation.

Are we sure he's not talking about America?

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 month ago

To be fair, I do feel fairly hopeless about my situation in Europe. But I'm happy I'm not in America and I know that any idea of Musk's will make things worse

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 month ago

B-B-But look at all those "l-l-likes" from his MAGA flock!!!

[–] [email protected] 23 points 1 month ago (1 children)

The more you guys give this man media attention in this context the stronger he will become. The parties will choose sides and it will make him a defacto leader in which ever side he ends up on.

I'm not sure how to handle this, but in the US trump and elon got so big BECAUSE liberals hated them so much. They are like cheer leaders for assholes.

[–] [email protected] 13 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Unfortunately none of us here can control what the media puts out.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Yeah, I understand that and I'm not sure what can be done about it. In the US we gave up on having accountability in news reporting, and that is fucking over international journalism by... contamination or something.

I'm sorry world. I wish we had done more and better.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 month ago

In Belgium, we used to have this tacid agreement amongst the press that they wouldn't talk about mistresses of ministers and kings. Because it was seen as just a private matter. It doesn't hold true all the time, but it shows that the press could decide to just not talk about folks like Elon unless they really have to. Not sure it would still work these days, now that most journalism has been replaced with copy pasting an article an making the title a bit more click-baity than the previous one...

[–] [email protected] 49 points 1 month ago (2 children)

I think he does know how unpopular he is in europe and he's just doing putin's will by intentionally stoking division between the US and its major allies.

[–] [email protected] 54 points 1 month ago (5 children)

No. He's trying to get right wing extremists into power, because they won't stand in his way if he treats workers and nature as his property.

He got reigned in by unions, environmental activists, agencies and society in general when he tried to ignore every law and regulation he could find at his Berlin gigafactory. That pissed him off big time and it's not the only time it happened.

He's a petty little man with too much money.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 month ago

There's been those huge strikes in Sweden against him by the unions too.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

they won’t stand in his way if he treats workers and nature as his property.

Unfortunately it's not just him. The reason Elon supports right wing populism in europe is so that him and all the other US oligarchs can buy out all the gains european people made as a result of mass movements and the threat of the spread of communism. Public health services, public transport services, environmental protections, consumer protections, paid holidays, disability pay... Anything that is worth anything will be sold off to the US oligarchs for pennies on the dollar while the top guys in AfD, NF, FdI, Reform UK etc. get their cut. Any and all safeguards standing against the looting will be removed and if any single country tries to resist, they will be drowned under the weight of tariffs.

This is of course nothing new, US and European countries have done exactly this to countless countries on the global south throughout the 20th century. What's new is the crosshairs of the big dog is now turned on europe.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

stoking division

get right wing extremists into power

The two are certainly not mutually exclusive.

But I don't think elon going on about some BS is gonna do that much to embolden already surging russian-backed right wing groups in europe. I think eroding us-eu relations is likely to be the stronger impact.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 month ago

Unfortunately, Twitter is still used by many media outlets and politicians as a gauge for public sentiment. Just by changing the narrative on there he can change the elite's perception of reality.

[–] [email protected] 23 points 1 month ago (1 children)

It's insane to me that one of the richest people in the world, and still making more every second, cares so much about new ways to hurt people so he can continue to make even more.

Because of this, I feel that it has more to do with gaining power over making money. He appears to be at the stage where he just wants to control everything and absolutely believes he is entitled to do so. At this point, it probably doesn't even cost that much to do whatever he wants, so why not take it as far as everyone will let him.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 month ago (1 children)

It's called elite projection. They believe that they personally not only know everything and are right all the time, they also want to force everyone to think like them. It's the same mechanism as with stalinism.
