Rules: (interactive)
1) Be nice and; have fun
Doxxing, trolling, sealioning, racism, and toxicity are not welcomed in AskLemmy. Remember what your mother said: if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all. In addition, the site-wide Lemmy.world terms of service also apply here. Please familiarize yourself with them

NSFW comments should be restricted to posts tagged [NSFW].
5) This is not a support community.
It is not a place for 'how do I?', type questions.
If you have any questions regarding the site itself or would like to report a community, please direct them to Lemmy.world Support or email [email protected]. For other questions check our partnered communities list, or use the search function.

Oh gods this is the worst fucking thing about Instagram. As someone who never had an account there (in my case, less because of the privacy concerns and more just because I value photography more as an art form than the types of things Instagram encouraged, especially in its early days with the square-only limitation and heavy emphasis on filters), whenever I get sent a link to it, it's just the worst. It manages to somehow be even worse than TikTok is for un-signed-in users.
Ikr? It's so fucking stupid--both Twitter and IG are worse than TikTok in case of this.
Let's say you open a random Instagram link. Or a tweet link. You never know whether you will be able to see the link or not, it's just a random chance in my.experience. If not--I swear this is the stupidest part of this--theyll straight up just show you an ambiguous error message, like "An error happened". If you really want to push new users to create an account, AT THE VERY LEAST SHOW A ACCOUNT SIGN UP PAGE DAMN IT!!!. God damn, software are getting worse every day, and this comes from a programmer. Software tooling are better than ever, but these companies will continue enshittify their product! Damn.
