Off My Chest
RULES:
I am looking for mods!
1. The "good" part of our community means we are pro-empathy and anti-harassment. However, we don't intend to make this a "safe space" where everyone has to be a saint. Sh*t happens, and life is messy. That's why we get things off our chests.
2. Bigotry is not allowed. That includes racism, sexism, ableism, homophobia, transphobia, xenophobia, and religiophobia. (If you want to vent about religion, that's fine; but religion is not inherently evil.)
3. Frustrated, venting, or angry posts are still welcome.
4. Posts and comments that bait, threaten, or incite harassment are not allowed.
5. If anyone offers mental, medical, or professional advice here, please remember to take it with a grain of salt. Seek out real professionals if needed.
6. Please put NSFW behind NSFW tags.

I'm sorry, that sucks. Still, it's better to enjoy the weekend and not stress about things outside of your control. What do you do for a living? Is it something that you can pick up another job somewhere else fairly easily doing the same thing or something more specialized? If they want you out I'd just start looking for a better opportunity elsewhere.
Thanks for your concern. It's a software company I've been doing support for for a full decade now. Five years ago the company was bought by a multinational, and ever since things have been steadily getting worse & worse. I have no doubt this PIP is just to have the paperwork to fire me for cause down the line. I'll try my utmost to fulfill its requirements but there's no real winning here. Lol, instead of "celebrating" my 10 year anniversary here I'm all but fired.
NEVER give a company a single speck more than the absolute minimum. I spent thousands of lunch hours just working instead of eating because the workload was so high. The only reward I ever got for that was more work.
It does sound like they're edging you out. I'd start applying elsewhere right away. There's a lot of remote opportunities for software support. They are extremely competitive, but you have more experience than I do and I'm in the same field. I just recently landed a job as a software specialist in the public sector and it's insane how different the environment is vs a for-profit company. By the end of my job search I was averaging 10 applications a day and hitting multiple interviews a week. It was a lot of work finding a new job, but it's worth it in the end.
I've never stayed at a job longer than 3 years so I don't know what it's like to give 10 years of effort to a company, but I agree with that sentiment. You should always look out for yourself first and the good news is you'll probably end up making more money than you ever could at your current job by going elsewhere.
