Jon Bernthal, of late. I first saw him in the Walking Dead where I kind of hated him, but then saw him in a couple other things (especially Punisher) and realized what a good actor he is. That's happened a few times actually, I really hated Brad Pitt in Se7en (that wasn't wrath, that was a fucking bad hair day), but then saw him in 12 Monkeys and was like 'Oh wait'.
How the fuck could I forget John Bernthal! Shame on me. I've seen quite a few stinkers only because I was hyped to see Shane in it. Thank you.
You liked him as Shane? I really disliked him in that role, dunno what it was.
I'm a huge fan of Jon Bernthal too. His role in Sicario was the cherry on top of an excellent movie. He shows up for every role, whether it's ten minutes or leading man. I haven't seen the Punisher, mainly because I can't stand comic book movies made in time after Nolan's batman series. I feel like the whole genre just blew up and became incredibly oversaturated - but this isn't about that, it's about Jon Bernthal. He's just a good actor and has a great screen presence that pulls me in.
Oh shit, I forgot he was in Sicario. I loved that movie, and him in it. Re:Punisher - I have serious franchise fatigue for comic book shit, but that show is pretty damned good and doesn't feel very comic-book-y at all. Also has Ebon Moss-Bachrach who I've really come to love thanks to Andor and The Bear.
Have you watched The Bear!? I "hated" Jon Bernthal until I saw him in The Bear, and he won me over through sheer goddamn chops. Man.
I fucking love The Bear, I just finished watching season 3 a couple days ago and it includes one of my favorite scenes that is a long flashback convo between Michael and Tina that was kind of my Forks for this season (IYKYK.) It's probably in my top 3 favorite shows of recent years.
I'm just gonna say it: I think the back-to-back of Fishes/Forks might be the best consecutive episodes of TV ever. That show broke me.
You better say it, cause it's true. I didn't like season 3 quite as much as season 2, but that's only because season 2 was just that good.
