I've always been intrigued, but never got around to any of his films. They seem to have a very unique "flavour", like I can almost taste his style, which I find really interesting.

Should I start with Bottle Rocket and go through by release date, or is there a recommended film to start with?

I've been slowly working through Kurosawa's movies, and I thought this could be an interesting discussion since there are so many of them.

I just finished Yojimbo, and it was fantastic. It pulls you into the story of a ronin who comes to town where two rival gangs are feuding, and he plays both sides off of each other. I really enjoyed how the relationship between the tavern owner and the ronin developed through the movie.

I think my favorite that I've seen is Seven Samurai. Even though it's been copied to death for other movies, this is still the best version. Kikuchiyo is such a compelling character, and Kambei is great to watch as the leader who you hope can rise to the occasion.

I've also seen Ran (which I loved as an adaptation of King Lear) and The Hidden Fortress (which I loved as an adaptation of Star Wars [jk]).

Which should I watch next? I'd like to get into something set in contemporary times, so maybe Rashomon?

I saw this in a theater when it came out. I recently recommended it to a friend who really enjoyed it. Something made me think of it this morning so I thought I'd promote it to people who probably never heard about it.

Today marks the 50th anniversary of Jaws, Steven Spielberg's blockbuster horror movie based on the bestselling novel by Peter Benchley. We're marking the occasion with a tribute to this classic film and its enduring impact on the popular perception of sharks, shark conservation efforts, and our culture at large.

(Many spoilers below.)

Jaws tells the story of Chief Martin Brody (Roy Scheider), the new police chief for Amity Island, a New England beach town and prime summer tourist attraction. But that thriving industry is threatened by a series of shark attacks, although the local mayor, Larry Vaughn (Murray Hamilton), initially dismisses the possibility, ridiculing the findings of visiting marine biologist Matt Hooper (Richard Dreyfuss). The attacks keep escalating and the body count grows, until the town hires a grizzled shark hunter named Quint (Robert Shaw) to hunt down and kill the great white shark, with the help of Brody and Hooper.

Just watched this blind (haha) after seeing the two stars on the poster on Netflix as I was scrolling.

It was pretty fun! Not a cinematic masterpiece but enjoyable. Rated R for a few instances of breasts, an erection bulge, and lots of bad language.

I had a good time. I understand it wasn't a big success, and was the third of four movies they made together.

Wilder and Pryor are quite funny, often in an immature way. The female leads Joan Severance and Kirsten Childs do a great job, and Kevin Spacey plays a bad guy well.

Anybody else seen this?

Hello, I'm looking for a movie and hope I'm right asking here. I can only remember one scene, seen it a long, long time ago as a teen, of this movie and it is driving me crazy that I can not find it.

It is an investigative/ action movie I think, a bit like mercury rising. So a cop dude taking care of a kid.

The scene: the kid is sorting paper on the floor of a room, seemingly random letters on them. Then the cop dude and maybe a woman go up some stairs, talking about the kid and they see that the paper is sorted to resemble the face of a woman.

I apologize for the lack of other information or if this is the wrong place to ask. Is anybody able to help me?
