ill always ask for proof and theres never any. so ill keep doubting it for now.
i mean theres literally thousands of pictures and videos showing pretty gnarly stuff in gaza and thats a literal warzone, but somehow china can suppress everything about another genocide happening there? yeah right.
The thing is: a genocide claim is so bold and so out there that many people seem to fear disproving it. The difference with Palestine is that no media outlet in the west is actively claiming genocide on Palestinians despite that happening and many people seem to fear to call it one because they fear some backlash. The same thing is happening with Xinjiang except the other way round: people fear being shunned for denying a genocide.
The genocide claim makes it almost impossible to actually have a discussion about what is going on in Xinjiang. It's the same as with the Soviet Union. So much bullshit has been published about it that an actual discussion is basically no option with your average Westerner. The propaganda runs deep and needs hours upon hours of 'deprogramming' so to say.
This is definitely a frustration. I think there are very valid criticisms of, and problems with, the way China has handled Xinjiang. But western claims are so far from the truth that talk on what should be/is being done is effectively suppressed in favour of arguing over total falsehoods.
