(seriously tho, I've seen some draconian helicopter parenting on reddit that supposedly happened, although idk if its ragebait or something)
Sadly, that's the kind of parent I grew up with. Even if it is ragebait, it comes from a depressingly real place.
That sort of thing isn't anything new. My grandpa made my dad burn his baseball cards because he thought they were becoming "idols."
I'm always amazed that my dad managed to rebuild their relationship later in life.
Helicopter parenting is a cutesy term for abusive controlling parenting
