- Any drama must be posted as an observer, you cannot post drama that you are involved with.

- The poster must have a credible post and comment history before submitting a piece of history. This is to avoid sock-puppetry and witch hunts.
The usual instance-wide rules also apply.
Chronicle the life and tale of the fediverse (+ matrix)
Largely a sublemmy about capturing drama, from fediverse spanning drama to just lemmy drama.
Includes lore like how a instance got it's name, how an instance got defederated, how an admin got doxxed, fedihistory etc
(New) This sub's intentions is to an archive/newspaper, as in preferably don't get into fights with each other or the ppl featured in the drama

Talk about reddit brained. Why do downvotes matter to so many people? There is no karma count except for individual comments. You don't know what someone downvotes for so why get worked up over it?
If someone indicates they dislike a narcissist's content it shatters their ego.
Just because you call someone something doesn’t mean that it is true.
If you don’t like downvotes (like me!) join an instance with disabled downvotes. Simple solution. I don’t know why OOP hasn’t disabled downvotes on their instance.
I did at first. everyone else can see the downvotes. It made it so the comms had 0 votes on lemmy.world at first so I turned them on. The no downvoting implementation is broken.
What do you mean?
It still shows upvotes.
Yes obvs everyone else who has downvotes implemented can see them. But if you personally don’t like how downvotes are being used, then your experience will be devoid of them. Which is a great personalisation feature.
So lets say I post something to a community on my instance, and someone on lemmy.world downvotes it. I see a score of 2 upvotes and they, and everyone else that is federated with lemmy.world and gets their activity pub updates see a score of 0.
At first the cooking community was small when I moved instances, when downvotes were off there were multiple people who seemingly subscribed just to immediately bury the posts. When I looked at it from anywhere else everything was -1 and it was annoying.
I would like an implementation of this where if the instance has downvotes disabled that those activitypub updates were ignored.
Wait really, it shows downvotes as upvotes? I believe that is wrong. It just doesn’t show downvotes.
I’ve seen heavily downvoted comments show up with like +3 scores or something, while on lemmy.world they show up as -54. And if you check on web it will show 57 down 3 up.
Weird, Lemmy is beta software and this was on another version to be honest. Regardless the implementation of it is broken. There is no algorithm here so is isn't doing anything but burying comments. I'd prefer ratio amount of comments than drive by possibly bot down votes on this server I run for my IRL friends.
I think bigger picture I'm only going to participate in my own comms, ignore and immediately ban the kind of people that post on drama comms with all the context removed, mock people for being "crazy" and to be diminished and dismissed because I am a victim of American politics and not in support of their partisan bullshit and push back. This guy
Because it is a form of downplaying the abuse farm animal face everyday.
Because it buries all the posts on my instance, it makes it so that vegans who are the community and target for my instance gets silenced. Then whenever someone doesn't like what they read they go and downvote every post on my instance depressing all the counts and discouraging participatio. Activitypub downvotes are pure spam.
I had similar experiences in the past, I get you.
Offensive material for this guy is pushing back to a user that said that "all my life people told me that democrats were coming for my guns, my food and my appliance but its the republicans all along" I replied "It is the democrats though, they've been in power 75% of the past 30 years and Americans lost their rights to bodily autonomy, have a right wing court and can't get anything passed" and this is what got downvoted, this is what is so "offensive".
When I got madder than I should have and protested being downvoted for participating in my own communities this guy feels the need to denigrate me and be dramatic. When I push back he pretends to be the bigger man, yet posts drama posts and makes fun of anyone different. The way he talks himself up while pissing on people makes me sick. What an asshole. Lemmy is filled with them. I wish people like this would just stay on Reddit.
To be honest I'm probably going to stop using Lemmy and cancel my servers, what is the point of talking with a bunch of white people in America who circlejerk about linux and support international wars as if its a game.
The instance can also disable downvotes so that remote downvotes won't matter and be invisible to local users.
If you want it to be for vegans only then you should defederate tbh
Now that is an interesting idea. A timeline that ranks only by local votes
Yeah, with that, you'd be able to control who can vote on the posts your users see. Very useful for a totalitarian admin.
