Rules

  1. Any drama must be posted as an observer, you cannot post drama that you are involved with.
  2. When posting screenshots of drama, you must obscure the identity of all the participants.
  3. The poster must have a credible post and comment history before submitting a piece of history. This is to avoid sock-puppetry and witch hunts.

The usual instance-wide rules also apply.

Chronicle the life and tale of the fediverse (+ matrix)

Largely a sublemmy about capturing drama, from fediverse spanning drama to just lemmy drama.

Includes lore like how a instance got it's name, how an instance got defederated, how an admin got doxxed, fedihistory etc

(New) This sub's intentions is to an archive/newspaper, as in preferably don't get into fights with each other or the ppl featured in the drama

Names blurred to protect the innocent / crazy. Not trying to call anyone out, just thought the response was hilarious and highly disproportionate. Like, they distinguished that comment (green border/background).

For reference, the comment I presume that was downvoted that apparently triggered that response was to the tune of "BoTH SiDEz!!!!" with some hyper generalizing / stereotyping on the side.

If you don’t like downvotes (like me!) join an instance with disabled downvotes. Simple solution. I don’t know why OOP hasn’t disabled downvotes on their instance.

I did at first. everyone else can see the downvotes. It made it so the comms had 0 votes on lemmy.world at first so I turned them on. The no downvoting implementation is broken.

What do you mean?

It still shows upvotes.

Yes obvs everyone else who has downvotes implemented can see them. But if you personally don’t like how downvotes are being used, then your experience will be devoid of them. Which is a great personalisation feature.

So lets say I post something to a community on my instance, and someone on lemmy.world downvotes it. I see a score of 2 upvotes and they, and everyone else that is federated with lemmy.world and gets their activity pub updates see a score of 0.

At first the cooking community was small when I moved instances, when downvotes were off there were multiple people who seemingly subscribed just to immediately bury the posts. When I looked at it from anywhere else everything was -1 and it was annoying.

I would like an implementation of this where if the instance has downvotes disabled that those activitypub updates were ignored.

Wait really, it shows downvotes as upvotes? I believe that is wrong. It just doesn’t show downvotes.

I’ve seen heavily downvoted comments show up with like +3 scores or something, while on lemmy.world they show up as -54. And if you check on web it will show 57 down 3 up.

Weird, Lemmy is beta software and this was on another version to be honest. Regardless the implementation of it is broken. There is no algorithm here so is isn't doing anything but burying comments. I'd prefer ratio amount of comments than drive by possibly bot down votes on this server I run for my IRL friends.

I think bigger picture I'm only going to participate in my own comms, ignore and immediately ban the kind of people that post on drama comms with all the context removed, mock people for being "crazy" and to be diminished and dismissed because I am a victim of American politics and not in support of their partisan bullshit and push back.
