Still worth trying.

The word "support" is used in a very corporate way in the ROCm docs. They mean in terms of support contracts, sending engineers out to customer sites, having people dedicated to specific customers.

The code works on more devices than they list, but they won't enter into a support contract with anyone using anything but their latest and greatest.

"set the magic environment variable because the tool chain will mis-detect the architecture of your unsupported card"

I don't think it's misdetecting it. Rather it detects it correctly, tries to use specific support for that device, but then finds that the support was switched off at compile time. The environment variable forces it to pretend to be a different (very similar) device.

Clunky, yes.

Nobody denies there are two armed forces in combat with each other. What people are objecting to is the lack of regard to anyone caught in the middle, especially from the IDF.

As for soldiers being taken as prisoners, it sounds completely normal in war. I've not looked at this footage as I've no desire to watch violent images. Maybe this treatment is brutal, but being captured by the enemy is rarely a fun affair.

Sounds like you already worked it out.

What do you actually think is causing Europe to build weapons?

Do you think they are planning a era of conquest? Or maybe they've got an aggressor on their border and they feel the need to defend themselves.

This thinking just leads to science being turned into a religion. Knowledge being passed down from blessed people who perform obscure practises, and the masses being expected to accept it without question. Science should be open and understood by all. Then it has the weight it deserves and then you can have proper public discourse about issues.

A young earth creationist's hypothesis does not agree with existing evidence and so your example does not refute my argument.

I think the problem the masses have is that now that sky-daddy is largely ignored it hasn't stopped the desire to be told what to think. Thinking for ones self is hard. It takes time and effort. People don't want to do it. People want somebody else to do it.

Science has truth passed down from upon high by priests who carry out mystic rituals to give them sacred knowledge.

Bollocks! We've built another ruddy religion.

If you disagree without evidence, you're not wrong. You can propose an alternative theory that is consistent with existing evidence and it's just as valid as anybody else's. The mission is then to find evidence which disproves one theory or the other.

Conjecture is fundamental.

Does it have higher-order functions? Yes, therefore you can use it to do functional programming.

Everything else is syntactic sugar.
