Yeah Paris is great as a cool, old, European city with lots of history. If you like just hiking around cities it's great. I can imagine if you go into it thinking it is like some French tourist resort, you will be disappointed.
So like Vegas, but with less booze and weed?
Cruises. It's literally people who are so terrified of international travel, they bring their home culture with them on a boat. Even if the mechanics of cruises are generally nice, they are filled with, and cater to this demographic. Personally when I am traveling, too many other Americans or Germans kind of ruins the vibe, so a whole boat of them is like purgatory.
Yes, you have pretty much perfectly described why most Tom Clancy books have pretty niche appeal. The literary value is all in the well researched military nerd stuff, and weirdly plausible hypothetical geopolitics
This is legit why I have like two male friends left tbh. After 2016 I stopped giving a fuck. The problem... or maybe the cause in a way... is that I'm an oddly assertive introvert so it's very easy for me to end up in a situation where I'm doing nothing but going off on people and making drama.
My biggest issue is that I'll start one highly rated anime which is serious and artistic, and then the moment I invite friends over Netflix decides to fill my recommendations with a bunch of boob service thumbnails.
That's kind of why I don't think the RFK stuff is actually going to happen. Trump can sell the economic populism stuff but he lost in 2020 because of anger over public health. Letting RFK be crazy is just going to cause headaches.
Then regulate them, but I think this is pretty overstated tbh. There are no short term rentals near me, because it isn't a tourist district, and the housing market is still ridiculous. Likewise, property values in tourist areas have always been absurd.
In reality, there is definitely some overlap, and short term rentals definitely impact the housing market in some places, but it is far from a primary cause of broader housing scarcity.
This is exactly why I hate hotels. They are the same everywhere and tend to be located near the same shit everywhere. I much prefer a short term rental so you get to really experience a neighborhood in the city when you travel.
Lol what? They are ubiquitous as ever.
