Nah, I've worked in dental. Those machines are insanely expensive. This is one hand-held unit for sale just under 3k, down from just under 7k . That doesn't count the sensors, which are also crazy expensive.

Most offices have machines attached to the wall, which would be extremely difficult to steal. But a nomad is portable.

Above is ONE sensor (most offices have at least 2) that costs around 7k. There are other neccessities as well, but I think you get the point

I'll never forgive her for clinging on to power. She destroyed her legacy and ruined lives for the greed of it

Copy cat :)

Could be! I've spent the last 3 or so years with little to do but think, read, argue and watch youtube. I tend to watch mostly educational content, ranging from the big ones ("nile red", "veritasium", nutshell I can't spell, "world science festival") to lesser known ones ("sci-show", "fall of civilizations", "economics explained", "donna" and a bunch of others). Robert Sapolsky is amazing, btw, look him up if you don't already know who he is. But anyway, most recently I learned about the last 5 mass extinctions in a video by "paleo analysis"

Anyway...

I think many people will die in the upcoming climate crisis (and are already dying) but I don't think humanity itself will completely die out. I mean, we are not the pinnacle of evolution that some people would like to think, and we're still changing and likely will continue to do so as our environment changes. But die out completely? Prrrrrobably not. As a species we're highly adaptive (even though some idiots in power hold us back) and I think that at least enough of us will survive to continue the species.

Maybe not, but I think we have a shot that's no more unlikely than anything else that's happened so far

The more we learn, the better it will be for all species. We'll figure it out eventually... or die out

Can you imagine being that guy's partner, on the internet, reliving your trauma in joke/meme format and now you're a baked ham

ADHD. I blurt shit out. My emotions are about 6 steps ahead of the rest of my brain. Uninteresting things are death. Time is either too fast or too slow. Sitting still for long periods of time is torture

I haven't yet seen anyone else point out:

If the embryo was tested, they would know the sex before transferring it to the surrogate uterus (easily avoiding the problem). IVF is insanely expensive, as are surrogates. (Surrogates go for $50k plus per pregnancy)

Whoever did this comic is so willfully (and woefully) ignorant on so many levels that I wonder how they're able to function at all

As funny as this is, I concur. Also... why were they taking a picture? Kinda concerns me that they may have intentionally pushed the box top over to tip the cat

But maybe I'm just being paranoid. Idk.

I think that lil' kick some of us get is what divides people with adhd into the successful and unsucessful groups. Both suck, both are not our faults, but I'm glad to be able to eventually get stuff done even if it feels like I'm shortening my lifespan

I have a close friend who has inattentive adhd and he has a baaaaad time at life. He "lets" all the deadlines fly by and falls into depressions because of it. Got kicked out of school, ended up homeless for a while, finally recovered but then couldn't deal with credit cards, managed to get on his feet again and find a woman who supported him, but then she dumped him because he forgot to get her from the hospital. He's finally kind of ok, has a job and lives with his mom (at 40). I keep trying to get him to get back on meds but he says he can't afford the visit. He can't get through the paperwork for disability, either. He isn't stupid, we have great in-depth conversations and he's witty af. He just really... can't

I mention all that to illustrate what I mean by successful vs unsucessful. I've asked him if he gets the: ShitIHaveToDoThisAllRightNow! kick and he doesn't. Task pressure just paralyzes him

Sometimes I need a break just turning on the computer. Or putting dishes in the dishwasher. Or moving the laundry from the drier to the bed.

I'm a lot "better" at doing tasks than most people that I know with unmedicated adhd, but some days are just... nope, I showered and brushed my teeth so imma spend the rest of the day doing whatever random thing captures my attention for more than 5 minutes

Usually need a few days like that in a week. I just let my brain off it's leash until the anxiety and guilt kicks in and then I get everything done is a fury
