As an example, just came across this post

What type of pen do you prefer to use?

Alternatively, you can post in other communities. Maybe in a common format?

What is your favourite old song and why?

What is your favourite copper kettle?

Some possible community types

etc.

Then finally you can compile a list of posts somewhere so you can have it all in one place

You could totally create a new community too, but I think it will take more work to get something like this off the ground. The moderators might be posting a lot of the content early on

There is a pinned post with the team specific communities

While I usually advise to try and make larger communities instead of fragmenting, I think this is a fun subtle difference to split them up with lol

You could coordinate with the other mods to link to each other

But I didn't know Mbin could federate with Lemmy. But I'm sure Lemmy/Mbin probably won't federate with Pixelfed, or Peertube.

I think all of these are "don't federate well currently ", but it's a goal to improve federation over time

For example, Lemmy is federating with Mastodon better than when I first joined. It's also possible to subscribe to peertube channels from Lemmy, but it's a bit buggy.

Thanks! That's much easier

Edit: for a better method, see this comment below

You would need to navigate to that instance on desktop

For example, as others have said:

You can't see it from your instance because not every community will be pulled. A community only starts federating to your instance after someone on your instance subscribes to it

Memories are weird. Combinations of random circumstances might cause you to remember the last time when you are the item, and how it made you feel afterwards

An indirect form of this should work

  • When you need more X, you might feel certain symptoms. Eating more of X will make you feel better
  • Over time you associate the two things together, even if you don't understand the science of why

Yup, cats can't taste sweetness for that reason, while birds don't have receptors for spice and can eat chillies easily.

That's just the taste buds themselves, additionally:

  • A large part of our taste response is tied to smell. This is why food tastes different when sick. It's also hard to try yourself because you can "smell" through the back of your throat too
  • the air around us will affect taste perception, which is why some foods taste better or worse on a plane
  • genetic factors exist, such as how some people taste cilantro/parsley as soapy

A slight modification, it could be implemented as a suggested action where the admins (or mods) can ask for a second opinion when they feel it's appropriate.

That way urgent actions can happen right away, and potentially controversial actions can be discussed. It should solve the problem without forcing a specific workflow

The World Health Organization (WHO) on Wednesday declared mpox a global public health emergency for the second time in two years, following an outbreak of the virus in parts of Africa.

That comes as health officials also warn of a sharp rise in cases in Toronto.

On Tuesday, the Africa Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced that the mpox outbreaks were a public health emergency, with more than 500 deaths so far this year, and called for international help to stop the virus’ spread.

While not considered strictly a sexually transmitted infection, it is spread through contact with bodily fluids or scabs and contaminated personal items like clothing, bedding, sex toys or toothbrushes, according to Toronto Public Health.

For most of the medicines currently in use, a single drug is prescribed to many people. But sometimes, an individual patient needs a customized drug. Personalized medicine tailors treatments for a specific patient or a handful of patients. It holds great promise for treating certain life-threatening conditions. However, such treatments can be expensive, difficult to develop and labour-intensive.

Today in The Conversation Canada, Lori Burrows and Elizabeth Li of McMaster University write about the promise and challenges of personalized medicine. Treatments like CAR T-cell therapy for relapsed cancers and phage therapy for antibiotic resistant superbugs can save lives, but the high costs that come with such individualized therapies are a major barrier. There are other hurdles, too, including drug approvals and regulations.

USB Type C is great! ...unless you have to use dongles anyway.

I liked the style of this video
