Of course, Taiwan is kind of protected by the US, the dominant superpower of the time. But they are struggling, looking weak.

Keep in mind that China is struggling as well. Their debt problems are several times worse than the US, so they could suffer a major recession within the next few years if a significant disruption like war happens.

Now go compare overall homicide rates, without limiting it to gun usage

Someone needs to develop an open source replacement for android auto and really stick it to Alphabet

It's been like that for decades to be honest. Ceres used to be called a planet, but you don't see anyone complaining about it's demotion

Here's what bugs me: Why didn't channels like GamerNexus and LTT cover the petition until after Louis declared it dead?

I lean more on the Universal Maximum Income where everything above a threshold is taxed

You literally just described the progressive tax system that every developed country has today

And by doing so you're normalizing your kids to surveillance, which is a big part of why privacy is being eroded

It's better than the victim blaming that the Vice article participates in

Huh. I distinctly remember the subreddit mods directly advertising this community instead of the one on sh.itjust.works. Maybe I just assumed you guys were joined together.

It's kinda funny, because I joined sh.itjust.works specifically because they already had an ncd community and evem tried to get the two mod groups in contact.

Unfortunately that didn't work due to the only sh.itjust.works mod that had a Reddit account forgetting to check their inbox for weeks

The BBC has an article that gives a decent overview: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-57853385

And Vice isn't doing anyone favors by leaning into the transphobia spin: https://www.vice.com/en/article/whats-wrong-with-the-no-trans-dating-preference-debate/

A lot of this is also from personal memory. I was plugged into a lot of different communities 2018-2021on all sides of the aisle.

Thankfully people aren't yelling at lesbians about this anymore, at least not what I've seen. Unfortunately, the damage has already been done.

Also unfortunately, it seems that people aren't understanding the point of my original comment. And it's that every group has some number of assholes in it, and it's up to the group as a whole to make sure that said assholes don't ruin their reputation.

This isn't meant to bash transpeople. It's meant as a cautionary tale to avoid letting a minority of assholes set how everyone else sees the group.
