you can fuck right off to hexbear/lemmygrad with the tankies

I'm not on hexbear and I don't like that userbase.

Honest mistake

Really? Why not just.. read usernames? I already assumed that was his mistake but there isn't like a timer to post. You can sit here and read things before responding. You can even edit posts after you make them.

And I'm aware of why it gets brought up. I saw the mega post about it too.

I stand by what I said. It's annoying to see it constantly. And I do only see it on lemmy.

by complaining about people using the perjorative you’re essentially like the teacher punishing the victim for being fed up enough to finally hit the bully back who has been hitting the victim while the teacher has their back turned.

Interesting you should mention this. I'm Filipino and there was this racist kid in my class who always said racist shit to me and would fuck with me all the time, would even beat me up sometimes.

This was second grade. We were walking in single file line back to class and he was behind me, stepping on the back of my shoes to fuck with me while I was walking.

I turned around, and punched him right in the stomach. I was sent to the principals office and got in trouble. My parents were called in and all that. I believe he also got in trouble but it didn't matter. He still said racist things to me after that but he stopped physically fucking with me.

So nah. I don't think that's a good metaphor for what's happening here.

I didn't say it was a buzzword.

I'm in the US and "lefty" might mean something different for me than it does for you. Where I live and the sites I go on - have leftys on there but no, they never use the term tankie.

Annoying is an opinion yes, but I'm saying its annoying because of how often it is brought up. Not that I'm siding with tankies or people who are against tankies.

Anything that gets repeated over and over is going to come across as annoying. Unless you like redundancy.

I never saw that word used until I came to lemmy. I had to look it up and found that exact same wiki page for it.

Just because its a real word with a wiki page doesn't make it any less annoying to constantly see on here. And only here. I see that word on NO other sites I ever visit.

For me it's because I have had to suffer from UTI's before and I don't want to risk some stream of water blowing bacteria into my vagina and then I gotta pee every five seconds and wait for a damn doctor visit because for some fucking reason UTI meds aren't over the counter where I live.

I can buy the UTI "pain reliever" over the counter but it just temporarily fixes the pain, and the UTI of course continues. Pretty fucking pointless.

I watch a lot of old tv and I see communities here for that but they seem to lean towards newer media - reddit has all kinds of niche subs that get traffic and interaction for the stuff I like. Unfortunately its not worth it to be there for it cause so many people are there to just troll/make things difficult for people.

I also like make up and J-fashion. I saw no communities for either and the closest I saw was a goth community which isn't geared towards the fashion, but the music side of it.

Really like having local communities too. I'm in Portland, OR which has several sub reddits - but there are communities here that seem to get no interaction, just posts with links.

Also artwork, I'm an artist and looked around at the art communities here. Nothing really stood out. It seems to be reposting other people's art or just art that doesn't fit on other sites so nothing that I actually like, where as I have to get that mostly on tumblr anyway. That's the only place I seem to find artwork I enjoy and fanart. I'm really shocked there isn't a fanart community here. I supposed I could start one but then I run the risk of reposting artwork and needing to credit everytime and the inevitable risk of me just posting and no interactions. (if you're not familiar, some artists don't like reposts even if they are credited for it)

When I use the lemmy explorer, I find a lot of communities like that too. Seems to be one or two people posting, no posts get comments.

There's also radio shows and podcasts I listen to and I don't see any communities for those either but I think those are like some really niche interests of mine and I was shocked that Phil Hendrie had a sub reddit even, the guy is so unheard of.

I guess not liking mainstream stuff is really shooting me in the foot but like, I can't help what I like?

yeah I was hoping for more interaction. I'm still digging for communities that have my interests too.

Following that logic, why do we bother using Lemmy in the first place?

I mean, I'm only here cause reddit sucks and I wanted to see if Lemmy has a different atmosphere. So far it does. Too bad its kinda dead around here.

I don't know what's more weird. Margot Robbie being on lemmy, or that Margot Robbie is a fan of android devices over iOS devices.
