I kinda realised that the less specialised you are, the more you really know. If you don't branch out here and there, you won't develop necessary skills that will help you in your own specialised area. For example, Albert Einstein is well known as a theoretical physicist, a highly specialised occupation. But were it not for his hobby of playing the violin and willing to work outside his main field and interest, he would not have been able to come up with solutions to some of the pressing problems in physics. He did say that imagination is more important than knowledge, and his track record speak for himself and his mindset.

Moreover, I think there is some harm not developing other skills. I find that some people in positions of power being ineffective, because they may only know their technical skills, but did not bother to learn people or time management skills. Going further beyond, a lot of people have ill-informed takes in politics or life in general, because they do not bother learning more facets.

While my parents aren't bad, they're just products of their environment that doesn't teach or encourage critical thinking and being honest to one's self. They are also bad with communication. They don't have an iota of self-reflection or even if they do, they do not even attempt to change. But even if they change, it's too late. My parents said and taught me a lot of things when I was growing up, which in hindsight doesn't make sense and negatively affected my formative years.

My parents said they'll be happy to take care of any of my future children; but I gave a disgusted no face and I reckon my parents did not even get the hint.

"Only your side can be evil and not mine!"

"Read theory and you would know what I'm talking about."

That is a common thought terminating response to any critique of communism. That being said, I learned to flip the table. Tankies talk about theory, so mention empirical and practical results. They tend to either shut down or ban you.

Ffs I hate PragerU. The website "All Sides Balanced" quotes them as if they are a reliable and genuine university that does research, when in fact it's a right wing propaganda machine that spews the already derided laissez faire economics and climate change denialism.

He's still the pope, of course he'd say this. However, the majority of Indonesians are Muslims. As if the opinion of a Catholic leader would matter much.

I imagine it would be for older games though?

I was a huge fan of Ubisoft. I basically stopped playing any of their games after Assassins Creed 3, with the exception of AC: Black Flag, which I got from the high seas, ironically.

Maybe I am missing something with this but anarchists are hated both by communists and liberals. If they see the anarchists, they'd also gang up on the latter lol.

In fairness, it isn't like banning one social media website (and a purveyor of misinformation and disinformation at that) will have either national security concern or threatening fundamental freedoms in Brazil. It could be why Brazil had been so bold.

I grew up with religious parents. Looking back, they restricted me from doing things, even innocuous, without explicitly stating we to why. But I know that it's because they are afraid I "might get ideas". Fortunately, I have been to good schools and got taught about basic sex education. Ironically, my parents sending me to good school taught me better than being "taught" by my parents who don't want me to "get bad ideas".

And unfortunately lemmy.ml is getting more online traffic recently.

I saw plenty of kintsugi kits available in my area (to those who do not know what kintsugi is, it is the art of fixing broken ceramic/pottery items using lacquer). However, I do not know if the quality is good for the price presented by these shops. Could anyone knowledgeable or experienced in kintsugi give some tips? I'd appreciate any help and thank you in advance.

I got hyped by the TV series so I will play the game for the first time (yes, I know, it took this long). I usually prefer to buy GOG version of a game but I saw the rating of FO4 GOG at 3.9/5. Why is that? I have read somewhere that there is technical issue of some sort which includes modding for GOG version? I expected higher gamer rating for FO4 in GOG but a lower rating typically indicates for me some genuine issues.

Edit: also the GOG Version says it does not include the Creation Club. What is it and is it in some way better than using Nexus mods?

Ignoring the lack of updates if the game is buggy, games back then were also more focused on quality and make gamers replay the game with unlockable features based on skills, not money. I can't count the number of times I played Metal Gear Solid games over and over to unlock new features playing the hardest difficulty and with handicap features, and also to find Easter eggs. Speaking of Easter eggs, you'd lose a number of hours exploring every nook and cranny finding them!

I was watching a video on Willem Dafoe on his iconic roles, and his passion to craft and life, and positivity, exudes from him immensely. In that video, I am surprised he remembers from which of his movies the lines came from. It made me love him more as an actor because he loves life and his job.

But then during the interview, I remembered too when I watched Kevin Spacey's interview before, admiring him and it turned out he is a creep. I was telling to myself about Willem Dafoe "please don't be a creep, please don't be a creep."

Willem seems like a genuinely nice guy though but I hope I don't get proven wrong!

Edit: clarified the title
