Just look at the current state of Skyrim modding.
Aside from some still holding to LE. There are the 1.5.97 SE users and the 1.6+ AE users. And there have been at least one or two more updates in the 1.6 line that also caused more issues and require their own dedicated builds of various mods.
Its fucked
I watch because its stupid. Its like why Call of Duty exists. Just dumb fun that doesn't require much thought to enjoy. Sometimes you just need some good dumb fun and can't be serious all the time.
A friend of mine has been looking to upgrade his gaming rig since its pretty old and low budget. Still even has Windows 7!
The build he's looking at has Ubuntu. I'm excited to welcome him into the Linux community.
That would usually be done before digging. Only after learning all you can through deep soil scans and confirming structural integrity so as to not have it break upon moving it. Then you may dig it up.
Those alternatives are old tech that has way more limitations than a neural implant.
Just because there is old tech that SORT OF does this, doesn't mean it can't be improved. That's the same attitude behind "not needing more than 4mb of RAM" back in the day. You can't stop progress all because YOU are fine with the current state of the tech.
Based on your reaction, I'd hate to hear your opinion on AI. Let me guess, its corpo data theft and only data theft?
What about the multitude of FOSS projects that even you could use if you wanted?
Jerboa
Its simple and lightweight. Can optionally get it on the app store if you want.
Natural Harvest
or something like that I think
Certainly looks better than the average indie game. And before you come at me for saying that.
Indie is often touted as "better than AAA". But in order for that to be the case, they need to at least offer something similar first. But most indie games are so far removed from even the average AAA game, that its basically apples and oranges.
AA, or mid-tier, is really where its at. Some of the best games in recent years have all been from the AA space. Even ones that launched rough like Elden Ring and Cyberpunk.
They are still leagues above the average indie game that most people here and "the site that shall not be named" tend to list off as their favourites.
So yes, Elden Ring indeed does have great graphics. Not the most cutting edge, but at least it looks like it belongs in the same generation as its competitors.
Like traditional punk lifestyles, its just counter-culture as apposed to "low life"
Going against the grain.
