This is incorrect. The company is planning to try switching to digital signage which can be updated to lower prices during slow periods and promote certain items based on weather.

The company has actually released a statement saying that lowering prices during slow hours is exactly what they're planning on doing, along with promoting certain items based on weather (which I assume means ice cream when it's hot, coffee when it's cold, etc).

All you people commenting ignorantly without reading the article or knowing anything about the subject.

The AI isn't making any decisions. It's being used to help identify targets, which are then acted upon--or not--by humans.

This isn't the big, scary thing you're all making it out to be.

The object recognition algorithms are used to identify potential targets. Humans then operate weapons systems. The US has reportedly used the software to identify enemy rockets, missiles, drones, and militia facilities.

The biggest shrinkflation culprit is food. People need food. Recent trends do, in fact, show that American consumers have been switching to cheaper brands and reducing consumption of some items, but boycotting is unrealistic. People need to eat and a handful of massive corporations own most brands.

Also, anyone who's ever flown to/from Orlando knows those planes have far more kids on them than the typical flight does. This outbreak is fortunately so far only in south Florida, but that doesn't mean it will stay there. Just one infected kid going to a central Florida theme park could spread this around the country very rapidly.

Oh, and spring break is what, a few weeks away? Good thing most colleges require proof of vaccination....
