Okay I have to ask. What besides the belts, the rods, the screws and motors are left?

Nice job!

The wiring and bearing blocks I guess. And the spiral wire tube thingies

The fact that it hasn’t burst into flames is a testament to your modding skills. Well done!

Looks pretty cool. The frame reminds me a bit of a piper. Is this home brew?

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 month ago

The frame is this with a few remixed parts thrown in. And scaled everything up to fit this larger tube.

The A8 is quite decent after getting rid of all the original parts and rebuilding it from scratch. I see.

Good job! 👍 You learned a lot from the original design and from your improvements. That's what the hobby of 3d printing is all about, if you ask me. I went through similar efforts with my Ender 2.

Nah, 3D printing as a hobby actually involves printing things. What you are describing is 3D Printers being the hobby. That is fine too, but too many people can't seem to make the distinction that they never actually make anything.

Definitely learned a lot. With these upgrades I hope it will last me enough so when I have more disposable income I can build a Voron or something of that caliber.

I recently saw an A8 voron switchwire conversion, what I'm taking away from that and this is first A8 mod should be a metal frame.

Oh wow a CoreXZ A8. Yeah the original frame is very flimsy indeed. I got noticable improvements in print quality at higher speeds.

Some of the wiring seems original

[–] [email protected] 8 points 1 month ago

Yeah most of the wiring is. The bed wires are soldered on and I haven't noticed them warming up at all.

Now what happens if someone takes all the parts you replaced, and uses them to construct a 3D printer?

Do they own the A8? Or do you?
