Both criticisms are just making shit up because they are incurious. "Tankies" always have long explanations for countries they critically support in various actions or just, you know, don't racistly villify as existential evils.

There are certainly people who go out of their way to defend Russia, but for fuck's sake, Ukraine literally was attempting an ethnic cleansing campaign while also violating multiple treaties
If it were any other country, the libs would gladly be in favor of retaliatory action
we, as educated communists, should go out of our way to dispel western misconceptions about Russia and the rest of our "enemies" and spread understanding. It is our duty to disillusion these chauvinists of their fake notions and correct them. We must counter-signal to the entire western dominated narrative that is always pro-chauvinistic and anti-"enemy of the day" in every way that we can.
Okay but Putin has banned being gay in public, he was part of the regime that killed the soviet union and he fucking sucks.
I hear that, and looking at how he helped to illegally dissolve the soviet union as a Yeltsin protege, it's super-true. It also means unless the US falls, there's no way to reliably replace him; the West introduced Putin to the world in the first place.
We should recognize that the West wants a further-right figurehead and they only support rebellion to that end; if we don't defend the people of the world from the USA, there will be very few global gay liberation wins.
That's why it's critical support of them in their anti-imperialist struggle and not uncritical support of their domestic policies
However if I see someone being overly critical of an official “enemy” at a crucial time like a coup attempt or imperialist invasion, and talking about nothing else, I see that person as an enemy.
the only countries i uncritically support is DPRK and Cuba. Pretty much every other AES has major flaws or foreign policy problems. Russia has better foreign policy than China does, which is very cringe and pathetic for China.

Lib shit Natalie really not getting the memo that her fucking country's action has impacted and is impacting negatively majority of our world. Right wing government suck everywhere(example: Canada with the red tory PM) but the fact that it's always this absoluteness (example being "oh you're a tankie because you hate US oligarchs/official/government" when saying things like Russia hasn't impacted our world to the level of what US has done since the fall of USSR with respect to imperialism) that unserious people like her always push whenever a person criticize US for their imperial practices all over our world is just so fucking stupid.
