Someone asked a similar question from a retro portable gaming standpoint, if itβs useful.
I know it might seem weird but older monster Hunter games works for me
Haven't tried it myself but Tiny Glade just came out and looks like something that might fit that vibe.
Or Dorfromantik
My friends and I like to play Rocket League while chatting. It's free to play now. We were absolutely terrible when we first tried it but we've gotten pretty good over the years. We like doing a Spotify jam and trading off album picks too.
Some of my other friends will do Borderlands while talking, but I think that's a little too much going on, plus I'm not that into shooters. But maybe that's appealing to you guys.
We're probably gonna get Space Marine II soon for this as well. Seems like Gears of War for the modern era.
Streets of Rage 4 is also a fucking good time. Excellent music too.
Balatro
I recommend PowerWash Simulator (Steam link). Sometimes when I'm completely wrecked from work, I'll sit and play this, while I chill in a Discord VC with friends. Sometimes both my girlfriend and I will play it multiplayer, while hanging with our friends in Discord. Really nice and relaxing game.
My wife calls these her "high games":
- Donut county
- Katamari
- Unpacking
- Luna's fishing garden
Mine:
- Goat Simulator
- Gorillaz Geep flash game (I could play this for hours and there is no goal, just feels like driving in GTA without consequence)
- Starstruck Vagabond
Oh man, I played that Gorillaz Geep game so much in '07, time to revisit it methinks
Balatro just came out on mobile. Might be a bit too much focusing if you're really into min-maxing though.
Rusty retirement
Why not just take the phone call without a game?
Good point, but still I want to play a game.
Then try idle games
He's sugarcoting it. He needs a game next time his mom calls and tells him a two hour medical story about his aunts wart removal.
Edit: forgot to suggest a game
