One of the few RPGs of the era that was two player too, I feel like it wasn't obvious, I didn't realize at first and it was amazing when me and my siblings discovered that, especially after always taking turns on the classics like Chrono Trigger.

MODERATORS
I liked how the characters also had a spread of class variants. Haven't played it since it was only available in English as a fan translation, but the official English title, Trials of Mana, is kinda cool
Oh yeah there was definitely potential for planned builds in that game, as you could pick classes that have good synergy.
Also I completely forgot that they made a remake recently.
There are bangers everywhere for those with ears to hear
