Alright, that is quite enough from everyone in this thread. The problem user has been banned for 30 days, everyone else chill the fuck out. Calls for execution, extrajudicial punishment, etc. Cut it out.

Does animal cruelty get you a bit of the same treatment as being a pedo or rapist?

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 month ago

I sure hope so.

I hope he feels every second of his sentence. I love animals and it almost makes me sick to my stomach to imagine it...

Take these people of the streets, people who can torture animals like that are dangerous. It basically requires a complete lack of empathy and conscience. The only thing that keeps people like that in check are consequences. We put them in jail for torturing animals, they don’t like being in jail, so they’ll refrain from putting their wife or kids in a wood chucker later on in life.

There are lots and lots of psychopaths around us. We only notice the obvious ones that go off the rails and make the news, but there are plenty of functional psychopaths that play being human. Politicians, managers, cops, lawyers. Jobs and positions with power attract them, because they crave control.

The vast majority of them do not commit crimes. Mostly because they don’t want to deal with the hassle criminal prosecution entails. They don’t have to hurt others, they just don’t care if they do as long as it’s advantageous to them and doesn’t come back to bite them. How many people are sociopaths/psychopaths etc? About 5-10% are some numbers I have seen thrown around.

Someone else, whose identity was not known when the case was presented to a grand jury, poured an accelerant on the cat and set it on fire, the indictment against Williams says. The animal running away on fire was also recorded on video.

Didn't Jeffrey Dahmer start out by torturing and killing cats?

Not unusual for young kids to lack empathy, up to the point of tormenting and even killing animals.

The vast majority grow up, develop a degree of additional conscience and maturity, and don't go on to become cannibal serial killers.

That is not correct.

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7246522/

Writing in 1964, Mead found that across a range of cultures, extraordinary abuse of animals (e.g., torture, killing) by children may precede more violent acts by that individual as an adult [48]. She argued that an act of cruelty towards an animal by a child could “prove a diagnostic sign, and that such children, diagnosed early, could be helped instead of being allowed to embark on a long career of episodic violence and murder (p. 22). Her writings influenced the American Psychiatric Association (APA) to add animal cruelty to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders–III R (DSM-III R) in 1987. In the 2013 Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM 5) animal cruelty was retained as a symptom of conduct disorder [49,50].

Additional studies in the 60′s also documented the Link between violence towards animals in childhood and aggressive behavior towards humans in adulthood [51,52].

The kick was recorded by another man, Decorius Mire, who encouraged Williams to kick the cat, prosecutors said. Mire posted the video to social media.

Mire was sentenced last year to 18 months in prison.

Just lovely people all around.

If the cat was leashed, this horrid incident most likely would have never occurred..just sayin.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 month ago (1 children)

How do you know you're on the wrong side of an issue? When you're literally excusing animal abuse.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Not once did I excuse it but ok...assume what you want when you leash your cat

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 month ago

"Wouldn't have happened if" is literally victim-blaming.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 month ago (1 children)

If it was a wild animal would it be okay? They aren't going to be leashed, so I fail to see how that changes empathy.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Wild cats aren't a thing in...Texas until humans started neglecting them by allowing them to be unleashed.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 month ago

I said wild animal, not cat. Missed the point. Where do you draw the line at animal abuse being okay?

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Are you aware that house cats sometimes escape or get lost? Or that some are born feral?

I don't know the details of this particular animal's origins, but it's kind of ignorant to think that a leash was even a likely possibility.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Sure. It's a blanket statement I use anytime I see/hear a cat outside u leashed regardless of the circumstances. It's overall good logic to have to keep the cats, and wildlife save. If this was a dog, no one would have an issue to me saying leash your dog. Cats should be no different.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 month ago

The same goes for dogs, though. I don't think you meant ill, but I think you maybe missed the overarching theme that this was likely a lost or wild cat. People would still find your original comment offensive, whether it was a cat or a dog, and suggesting that keeping animals on leashes ignores all-too-common cases of loss or abandonment (which I'm sure you'd agree is an ongoing problem).

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 month ago

No, it would have just the cat into a tether ball. Besides it was probably a stray just chilling out doing his thing as stray animals do. Can't blame a stray cat or dog for the actions of shitty people.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 month ago (1 children)

you are a stupid dumb fuck for saying that 😁

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 month ago

Sounds good. Don't bother me in any way what anyone says.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 month ago (1 children)

That's some real victim blaming bullshit right there. Are you gonna say next that sluts shouldn't be showing off their ankles if they don't want to get raped?

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 month ago

Not at all, but ok..think what you want while you're with your leashed cats.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 month ago (1 children)

It could have been a stray and it would still be fucked up. Fuck off

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 month ago (2 children)

It's mely standard comment for ALL cats loose outside. So no, and you.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

ALL cats loose outside

Torturing wild animals is cool and good, aktuly. Its weird that anyone would think otherwise. If the bobcat didn't want me to cage it, pour gasoline over it, and set it on fire while I laughed at its animal screams, maybe it should have been licensed and penned in on someone's private property.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 month ago

Now you're being unrealistic.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I sincerely hope you go out and try to leash community cats.

There are many feral cats who live in almost all our communities that don't have a home. They don't have people who care enough to house or feed them, not to mention leashing them when outside. They aren't disposable.

Animal abuse deserves punishment. Hard stop. I don't know what kind of point you are fumbling for here, but I have a hard time seeing its relevance.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 month ago (1 children)

'community cats' wouldn't exist if people actually cared for them in the first place and didn't let them roam free. I bet you'd be vocal about 'community dogs' roaming free to do what they want. Cuteness should't get a pass

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 month ago

You're preaching to the choir, friend. I work in animal welfare, and TNR and fostering feral kittens are my favorite ways to volunteer. I put my money and time where my mouth is.

Keep in mind the context of the post.

Fuck outta here. Just sayin
