Huh. I couldn't see the image at first. Clicked on the original post and couldn't see that either. Went back to start typing this response and in that time, the image loaded. So maybe it's slow to load or fetch or whatever?
Maybe. It's hosted on catbox.moe so maybe that's the problem.

I can see the image youβve linked. But I do sometimes see comments that seem to be missing an image, while other people respond to it like thereβs an image there. No idea if itβs a federation issue or a Voyager issue.
I just assumed that the instance it was hosted on is down for whatever reason. I have no idea if that's how it works.
About 20% of my feed is missing images right now. I don't know why you're being downvoted, because it does seem to be happening more frequently.
I kind of wonder if it's because the original poster is from an instance I've blocked
Maybe it's an issue with lemm.ee.
That might be the case since op and I are both on that instance
Thanks. I thought I might be misposting, but it is definitely happening more and more. It is doing this in communities not blocked by me.
