A Fediverse Alternative to TikTok

In the last few months i really gotten into the whole Fediverse thing, but i noticed that, despite it being the most popular Social Media Platform, there isn't a TikTok alternative. I know there is Loops, but it's not open source or federated yet, so it's not really an option. Why is that?

Bails with "failed to load media 😥" ... loads fine when using the browser. Known issue already?

It would save not one but two entire taps! Think of the milliseconds!

Especially when posting images, it’s nice to confirm you are indeed posting a meme and not a screenshot of your tax returns. And formatting can always get messed up once in a blue moon.

So, the existing flow is to write your comment/post, tap the three dots, tap preview, review your comment/post, tap done, and tap post.

The new flow would be to enable “preview by default“ in settings once. Then, write your comment/post, tap preview, review your comment/post, and tap post.

When I come across a user or community I would like to not see any more, the least thing I want to do is to have to view a screen full of the content from that community or user. As far as I can tell, though, the only way to block a community is to go into that community. Am I missing something?

Is there a way to have Voyager use an external browser to display web links? In iPad I’d like to use Brave, to minimize ads

...for those of us that mostly consume news through Lemmy.

Hi!

Sometimes, a comment is deleted by a mod, and I'd like to see what it said without having to dig it manually.

For multiple reasons:

  • To keep mods accountable: We have seen mods abusing their power on some communities.
  • To understand context when reading replies of deleted comments.

Now, of course they shouldn't simply show in the UI, it should show as deleted, but I could see an option to retrieve it from the "three dots" menu.

Thanks for the app!

Hi, every time for the last month or so that I've tried to upload an image for a post, I've gotten "task panicked". This happens regardless of whether I use lemm.ee or Lemmy.world and I'm also seeing it on other clients. What gives?

Current Behavior

  • there is a Hide Read posts button

  • there is an option to Mark Read on Scroll

  • there is a Gesture to Hide

  • There is an option to Reset Hidden posts

Issue

  1. When some GIF/video posts take time to fully load in the , I would scroll down to next set of posts while I wait for previous videos to load. As a result, I cannot turn on Mark Read on Scroll because the slow loading posts have not been Read.

  2. Upvoting/Downvoting marks posts as Read

  3. If I want to hide some posts, I use the Gesture to Hide posts.

  4. If I hide a post by mistake, using the Reset Hidden Posts option deletes the history of Hidden posts but keeps the history of Read posts.

  5. After reading the incorrectly hidden post, if I Hide Read Posts again, only the Read posts are hidden. The previously Hidden posts have been reset are not hidden at this point.

  6. As a result, in order to retrieve one post marked hidden by mistake, we end up unhiding all the other Hidden posts.

Solution

Provide a Gesture to Mark Posts as Read

  • This gesture can then be used instead of the Gesture to Hide posts.

  • When Resetting Hidden Posts, the history of Read posts will be preserved.

  • When using the button to Hide Read posts again, all Read posts will be correctly hidden instead of losing the Hidden posts history.

  • Alternative Solution**

Provide an option to Mark Hidden Posts as Read

Finally, thank you so much for consistently providing the most amazing Lemmy browsing experience!

Issue present for the past week or two on the latest and previous latest iOS versions. Likely unreliable to reproduce, but just experienced it here:

https://lemmy.world/comment/14264451

I tapped on the GIF, swiped down (… or up?) to close it, and the GIF zoomed in. From that point it’s difficult to close the GIF with one finger, but zooming out with two fingers works fine.

That PleasantPolitics bot is obnoxious! Also, there’s a few mods that use mass auto-removal bots when someone so much as posts comments that they don’t like.

It would be nice to be able to filter these out of the modlog feed. (If it’s even possible)

I don't see such an option anywhere.

We have the option to block posts by keyword, but communities have to be blocked explicitly by name. I'd like to be able to block all communities by keyword, or regex.

I have two use cases. The first is for communities that exist with the same name on many instances. The second is to be able block all the ".*meme.*" communities.

On some comments, there is now a [+ (number)] symbol next to the vote count. When I upvote it seems to always increase. Is this the number of times someone using Voyager has upvoted?

Well, I hope the icons are recolored to work both on light and dark themes.

I'm using the web app and this is applies to both Apple and Android designs

I love that this is supported but it's not for me. Can I turn it off?

99% of the annoying, rude, and discriminatory content I see is by accounts less than 5 days old. I’d like a feature where I can just automatically hide them.

We can view all our upvoted (or downvoted, saved, etc) posts & comments from the account page, but it’s just a simple chronological list.

I’d like to be able to filter the list, particularly by community or by user.

Example use case: I want to be able to easily see every post I’ve upvoted on [email protected] without having to scroll past everything I’ve ever upvoted anywhere.

screen recording of me doing it in apollo if you don’t know what i mean

~~also, please add the ability to tap on the top of the screen to go back to where you were if you accidentally tapped on the top.~~ edit: i just realized i can do that here

also, please add the ability to swipe on the right edge to go forward a page

NSFW not always blurred? (sh.itjust.works)

I'm not sure if this a bug in the new version or something else at play, but several explicitly marked NSFW posts in my feed have been unblurred as I scroll today. It's not every post, just some. Viewing the comments and backing out blurs the image correctly. Might be worth investigating.

V 2.20 on Android

Edit: enough ppl in this thread confirming, I'll get a GitHub issue opened after dinner.

Not sure if it's just me but I've noticed that Voyager is running approx 25-50% smoother now in performance thanks to the recent 2.20.0 update!

thank you and the contributors for making Voyager run even better than before!🥳✊

Edit:
I found the Liberapay link for Aeharding/Voyager within the app, may I make a suggestion to also add the link to the repo and F-Droid page?🤔🤗
