!nostupidquestions is a community dedicated to being helpful and answering each others' questions on various topics.

The rules for posting and commenting, besides the rules defined here for lemmy.world, are as follows:

Rules (interactive)

Rule 1- All posts must be legitimate questions. All post titles must include a question.

All posts must be legitimate questions, and all post titles must include a question. Questions that are joke or trolling questions, memes, song lyrics as title, etc. are not allowed here. See Rule 6 for all exceptions.

Rule 2- Your question subject cannot be illegal or NSFW material.

Your question subject cannot be illegal or NSFW material. You will be warned first, banned second.

Rule 3- Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here.

Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here. Breaking this rule will not get you or your post removed, but it will put you at risk, and possibly in danger.

Rule 4- No self promotion or upvote-farming of any kind.

That's it.

Rule 5- No baiting or sealioning or promoting an agenda.

Questions which, instead of being of an innocuous nature, are specifically intended (based on reports and in the opinion of our crack moderation team) to bait users into ideological wars on charged political topics will be removed and the authors warned - or banned - depending on severity.

Rule 6- Regarding META posts and joke questions.

Provided it is about the community itself, you may post non-question posts using the [META] tag on your post title.

On fridays, you are allowed to post meme and troll questions, on the condition that it's in text format only, and conforms with our other rules. These posts MUST include the [NSQ Friday] tag in their title.

If you post a serious question on friday and are looking only for legitimate answers, then please include the [Serious] tag on your post. Irrelevant replies will then be removed by moderators.

Rule 7- You can't intentionally annoy, mock, or harass other members.

If you intentionally annoy, mock, harass, or discriminate against any individual member, you will be removed.

Likewise, if you are a member, sympathiser or a resemblant of a movement that is known to largely hate, mock, discriminate against, and/or want to take lives of a group of people, and you were provably vocal about your hate, then you will be banned on sight.

Rule 8- All comments should try to stay relevant to their parent content.

Rule 9- Reposts from other platforms are not allowed.

Let everyone have their own content.

Rule 10- Majority of bots aren't allowed to participate here.

Welll, you're kinda barking up the wrong tree in this C/ to begin with.

But, your question, while not actually stupid, is also not the right question without a lot Mir more info.

Style wise? There's no real styling on lemmy. You make a banner, and you're done, pretty much. If you can't cobble together a banner between gimp and/or canva, you really aren't ready to learn anything that would help you make a great banner. There's a certain ground floor when it comes to designing something really nice, and if you can't use the most basic tools, you're essentially asking someone else to do it for you. Not that you'll never find someone, but it's a big ask.

As far as modding goes, you shouldn't learn that from one person, ever. Yeah, it can be nice to have someone to ask about the tools available on lemmy, but you don't need a teacher for that, just head to whatever the lemmy help page is and go ham.

If you're wanting a co-mod or mods, isn't [email protected] a thing? Or am I misremembering the name? Anyway, if I've got the name wrong, there's a place to request mods to help out somewhere, and if you can't find it on your own, you aren't ready to run a community on lemmy anyway.

But, before you go asking for mods, you'll want to be able to explain what the C/ is going to be, what rules you intend, and what policy/ies are going to be in place for moderation. Nobody is going to volunteer blind. Well, nobody worth having most likely.

Try gimp.org.

Just learn? Styling is what, a single banner image?

And you want to set up an IAMA type community but then expect everyone else to do the hard work?

[–] [email protected] -4 points 3 months ago (2 children)

NO I would hope some willing individual would say hey thats a nice idea and see I am struggling and help me by teaching me. Unless you think teachers do all the hard work?

[–] [email protected] 5 points 3 months ago

99 times out of 100, it's easier to do something yourself than to teach someone how to do it.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 3 months ago (1 children)

You think teachers have the easy side?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 3 months ago

Yeah. They only read textbooks to quiet kids, they do not have unpaid overtime at home for grading tests, and earn a million dollars every month. Lazy bastards.

Yes, there are certainly people who could help. I'd suggest finding them and asking them for assistance.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Totally down with that and am trying to find them but they kind of seem to be few and far between.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Hey Don. I can assist, but not yet. I am on vacation in Bali and will be busy until Aug 12. If you haven't figured it out by then let me know.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 3 months ago

Cool ill save your comment and contact you then if need be. Have a good vacation....no sarcasm.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 3 months ago (1 children)

What do you mean by style?

Something like a banner or something. Kind of want to give Reddit a run for its money.
