General community for news/discussion in the UK.

Less serious posts should go in [email protected] or [email protected]
More serious politics should go in [email protected].

Try not to spam the same link to multiple feddit.uk communities.
Pick the most appropriate, and put it there.

Posts should be related to UK-centric news, and should be either a link to a reputable source, or a text post on this community.

Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.

If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread.

Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.

Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.

So it's just an amp version of the gov.uk website? I assume so because after reading the article I'm no clearer on what the point of this app is actually supposed to be. Apparently I can customise it, a feature that I've got to be honest I've never felt was missing from the website.

I actually think the gov.uk website is really quite good. Certainly a lot easier than it used to be with all of the services and departments having their own website, I've never really felt an app is necessary.

The GOV.UK App public beta will be available to download from 1 July in the Apple App store and Google marketplace.

Can't they provide an APK as well

“Later this year, the government’s generative AI chatbot – GOV.UK Chat – will be added for everyone to use”

Can it not? 🙄

This actually seems like a good place for it. If it can help answer questions and summarise more complicated subjects that might not seem obvious to someone then that's useful.

"If" doing quite a bit of the heavy lifting in that sentence.

‘Can’t wait’ for the inevitable controversy when the official government chat bot tells someone to do something illegal, or gives dangerous advice leading to a death.
