I went a solid 8 years having my kids convinced it was an emergency button that you would press only in an emergency if you had to have the stoplight turn green. Every once in a while I would "break the law" when I knew the light was about to change and push it just before. Their mom wound up spilling the beans :-( I'm pretty sure I could've kept it up till the oldest one started to drive. Lol

A real problem on the West side of LA, I've had three people doing it at once, once, blocking both ways on a residential street. One was admittedly an Amazon delivery truck but the other two were just assholes.
Not as dangerous as the black Range Rover I nearly hit who had no lights and was simply parked dead in the streets. It wasn't out of order either, that asshole an hour later got back to his car just in time to avoid a tow.
I think people think of it like the star in super Mario Bros. Push that button, you start flashing, and no one can touch you!
Personally I feel like people that park in the bike lane should forfeit the protection of law. If I have to swerve into deadly traffic so you can get your coffee a little faster, I should be able to take your car's mirror with me.
I think that people that bike on the sidewalk should forfeit the protection of law. If I have to dodge you pulling 20 on a route that pedestrians were meant to walk just because you can't be bothered to follow the traffic laws, I should be allowed to stick an umbrella in your wheel spokes.
EDIT: my skill issue
The person you're replying to is complaining about bikes from the perspective of a pedestrian, not a motorist.
Oops. Skill issue. Ok then.
I ride (slowly) on the sidewalk sometimes because I'll probably die if I ride with traffic. I'm sorry. It's annoying. I walk the bike when it gets crowded. But I super don't want to ride on a lot of these streets.
You don't sound like the type of person to try to ride a bike down the 3 foot wide sidewalk on a bridge, or to pull 40-50 mph through a crosswalk without stopping.
3 foot wide sidewalk
0.9 real freedom units wide sidewalk? Am I the only one who sees problem here?
EDIT: my skill issue. You see it too.
Hazard lights to let everyone else know you've decided to become a roadway hazard.
I made a mess reading this. Thank you
Ew, use a sock at least
Haha! In Korea, it's the "I'm sorry!" button when you drive like an asshole.
I learned in Japan that it is a thank you button. Like if someone let's you into a lane, you flash twice to say thank you and turn it off.
I've noticed truck drivers do the same here in the US, so I've started doing this as well as a regular driver.
Commonplace in Ireland too for what it's worth.
Oh, I kind of like that.
Also a "hey, it's raining" button.
Some people get intimidated by a tiny bit of weather. I've seen people with there hazards on when its icy out.
Around here people use them a lot when they start hitting traffic backups and slowing down, as well as when they hit a slippery patch, to alert other drivers to upcoming conditions.
It’s not due to being intimidated, it’s a courtesy.
Its not a courtesy if everyone immediately does it
Y'all forgot heavy fog. It was a life saver when fog made it hard to see five feet in front of me. We all slowed down to a crawl and conga lined our way out, hazards a blazin'.
Ah, the "I am aware I'm doing something wrong, but I'm doing it anyways" button.
Ah yes, the Door Dash/Uber "it's cool if I just block an entire lane of traffic, right?" button!
To be fair, if I was paid minimum wage with a penalty if I don't work fast enough, I don't realy have any other choice but be an asshole. Espeially since my mental retardation would prevent me from thinking of any other solutions.
Isn't that called double parking? Did that ever actually happen?
Double parking would be if someone parked illegally in such a way that it would block someone else in their parking spot. What I'm talking about is when someone like an Uber driver literally turns on their hazard lights and just stops in the middle of traffic to wait for whomever they're picking up, and yes I have seen that happen a number of times lol
Only avalible in Audi,BMW and Land Rovers
Tesla has it but the drivers just it and park behind people blocking their exit because they didn't want to pay to activate the button.
It seems pretty damn available to all food delivery drivers
