Stimulants like Adderall and its generic equivalents leech Magnesium from your body, which can lead to muscle tension, stress headaches, jaw tightness (especially at night), teeth grinding, and a variety of unpleasant side effects.

Take Magnesium Taurate or Magnesium Glycerate, as other types (like Magnesium oxide or citate) do not absorb well at all & may actually cause stomach issues & absorption tolerance.

Take around 500mg at night, give it around 20 minutes, and you may find that you feel a difference very quickly! Especially if you are deficient.

Be sure to take both your meds and the Magnesium with lots of water! Stay hydrated throughout the day!

As with anything, if you're unsure, are taking other medications, or have other health issues, it's best to talk to a healthcare professional before adding supplements into your regimen.

I'm not a medical professional! Just someone who's been on meds for around 10+ years — giving advice that I wish I had known earlier.

Stay safe & healthy, folks!

Folks: I have a line in the post that encourages talking to a healthcare professional before adding supplements to your regimen AND about certain types of Magnesium interactions with medication.

Did.. y'all only read the title?

General advice: add disclaimers before the information you're disclaiming. Not being a smartass, it really is the best way.

I don't take ANY supplements I don't discuss with my doctor first. Where did you hear this information about stimulants "leeching" magnesium from your body? I can't find a single source about this anywhere.

According to a similar post on reddit, talk to your pharmacist, that's my plan.

Drug interactions are their job.

Yes: there is a line in the post about talking to a healthcare professional before adding anything to your regimen.

This is potentially dangerous advice. Ask your doctor first. There can be interactions between magnesium and Adderall, like making the Adderall less effective or making other side effects worse.

Can you eat cereal with milk of magnesium?
