Isn't Silent Hill just the name of a place, regardless of whether there is weird demonic stuff going on?
Yes and Resident Evil is about evil living in a residence ie a manor.
That is exactly how the name "Resident Evil" came to be, because they could not trademark "Biohazard" in the US.
The best scene in The Evil Within 2:
"You go on without me. I am going to stay here."
"But why?"
"Because there is evil out there."
"But... There is evil within, too."
