https://www.opensubtitles.com is where they are migrating .org to. They have an account migration tool if you have a .org account.

Really wish people would just include subtitles in their uploads.

Agreed. But it's gotten a lot better. I think there hasn't been a release this year without subs in the container.

I get that it can be several megabytes in size. But in this day and age it's like pulling a key flavor from the dish.

Did you check the Megathread? There are links for subtitles on the Megathread.

I’ve not fetched subtitles in a while but back when I did, I recall all the websites hosting them were extremely protectionist… more so than any other category of content on the web.

Of course the fix is to have torrents for the subtitle collections, perhaps by language.

Bazarr with a few services activated works great for me.

What services do you use? I set up Bazaar a few weeks ago and am working on building out where it can check.

I use Bazaar as well and I just use opensubtitles.com and paid for the $5 subscription for the much higher download cap. Its well worth $5 vs manually finding subtitles for the thousands of tv show episodes I have.

Yeah I like opensubtitles.com. I have a few pieces of content that they don't seem to have so I'm always looking for sources people recommend.

Subtitles.com still works for me. Of course, it's a bit trial-and-error finding the right file for your video.

Just the other day I learned that a fork of Media Player Classic (for Windows) has a built in subtitle retrieval and enables you to save those subtitles locally. Works pretty well, usually brings up multiple subtitle files, so have to try them until you get the right one.

I usually give it two or three shots and if they are not syncing properly I adjust the offset (think you can do in vlc, definitely can do in plex) until it's right and that usually works pretty well and doesn't typically take too long to get it right.

Yea, sometimes the subtitles are just wrong (like wrong words or different language than labelled).

There are also many online tools where once you figured it out in the player you can adjust the sync by uploading the subtitle file there. Good if you want to keep the media and don't want to figure the delay out every single time.
