/c/TenFoward: Your home-away-from-home for all things Star Trek!

Re-route power to the shields, emit a tachyon pulse through the deflector, and post all the nonsense you want. Within reason of course.

~ 1. No bigotry. This is a Star Trek community. Remember that diversity and coexistence are Star Trek values. Any post/comments that are racist, anti-LGBT, or generally "othering" of a group will result in removal/ban.

~ 2. Keep it civil. Disagreements will happen both on lore and preferences. That's okay! Just don't let it make you forget that the person you are talking to is also a person.

~ 3. Use spoiler tags. This applies to any episodes that have dropped within 3 months prior of your posting. After that it's free game.

~ 4. Keep it Trek related. This one is kind of a gimme but keep as on topic as possible.

~ 5. Keep posts to a limit. We all love Star Trek stuff but 3-4 posts in an hour is plenty enough.

~ 6. Try to not repost. Mistakes happen, we get it! But try to not repost anything from within the past 1-2 months.

~ 7. No General AI Art. Posts of simple AI art do not 'inspire jamaharon'

~ **8. Political commentary is allowed, but please keep discussions civil. Read here for our community's expectations.

Fun will now commence.

Nah.

Humanity in general is too kind to kill its vicious leaders, which represent a minority, greedy psychopaths the lot of them, not representative of the wider population.

The paradox of tolerance and all that.

Humans CAN be savage and cruel. Humans CAN also create beauty in their collective works. I believe the human race, weighed as a measure of everyone's contribution, could do better, but we're doing pretty good for a feeble childish race.

For a brief moment Picard had a thought.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 7 months ago

And he is much, much better...

The Q shouldn't be allowed to leave their home world. Change my mind.

My name is Q

[–] [email protected] 19 points 7 months ago

No, change my mind.

Really, you're omnipotent and I have things I need to forget. How about helping a poor savage out?

I just tried to get into a DV shelter and was told the local ones are all full and I don't even meet their criteria. Rough enough situation to make me make a phone call, and to a place like that, and still they're all full of people who've got it worse.

One of those places has over ninety rooms. How're they full? Q's right, that's how. 😖

I'm very sorry for your situation. Anything I can do to help?

[–] [email protected] 8 points 7 months ago (1 children)

Thanks for offering! It's an awkward, stressful mess of a situation :-\ Maybe, though! I've typed up tons of stuff (stress reaction, sorry >.<; ) here and in linked places: https://pawb.social/post/8222904

Super very shortified version: Not-young, trans, ND, many problems, stuck with bioparents in Oklahoma for reasons. Said "no" one time and they became threatening and scary. Called cops on me, even. Would likely have gotten physical if I hadn't locked my door. Attempting an escape to Minneapolis on probably-Friday. Anywhere to stay here (to plan the move more sensibly) or there (to start to build a life) is very needed, but I don't know anyone anywhere and I just don't have time for anything without fighting them over their BS idea of eviction process, which might get me hurt or dumped in the river.

I remember reading that post recently. What a nightmare to deal with. Do you have a GoFundMe setup for your expenses? I'm nowhere near Oklahoma, but I could contribute a bit of cash.

I don't; I'm hoping I can get by with what I have, though... refusing assistance seems like a bad idea so maybe I should make one just in case 🤷 On the other paw, seems like stress and effort to set that up and I hate taking things from people and I'm already struggling to get anything done, and that's all shakily sat atop the fact that I've got just no time to do anything with. Could post my PayPal address thing over there, I guess? Idunno if that's a sensible thing to do. Hate to ask. Hate all of this. Ugh 😮‍💨

Thanks muchly for offering, though! Maybe I'm not totally doomed. Probably am, but who knows 🤷 Sometimes life almost seems possible.
