Our galactic citizens have requested more specific rules, so here are a few.

The general idea is, if you're looking here for rules, you're probably someone who doesn't need to have them spelled out. You're fine. But anyway:

  1. This is a community for Star Wars memes. This means typically screenshots of Star Wars media with some text or context that's meant to be funny and/or thoughtful. All SW media is welcome: movies, games, comic books, fanart... Other kinds of content, like video links or meta memes (about this community, or Lemmy), are fine as well, just keep it on topic.

  2. We are all friends here, and love (sometimes love to hate) Star Wars. Be nice to each other.

  3. As fans of fictional media, we can be passionate. If you very strongly disagree with something or someone, take a deep breath before reacting. Anger leads to the dark side!

  4. Everything in Star Wars has happened a long time ago, in a galaxy far away, and it's a rich universe of millions of words and millions of years of history. So current Earthly matters really shouldn't concern us here. In other words, leave politics, philosophies and convictions behind the door. This applies even if it's about something related to Star Wars.

  5. Original content is preferred. Reposts are fine, just please limit to a maximum of 3 per day, per citizen. It is recommended, but not required, to mark original memes as (OC) and reposts as (repost).

  6. Local mods are the Jedi council. They may take actions that are necessary to maintain peace and stability of the Republic, even beyond the rules outlined here. Follow their guidance.

  7. Regular rules of the Lemmy.world instance apply.

If I had a nickel for every Star Wars villain with a name that rhymed with Corsage Prom Dress, I'd have two nickels, which isn't a lot, but it's still weird that it's happened twice.

We could have had Darth Icky, if only more people could recognize George's genius

Some parents name their kids for peak dominance in a cruel world.

Some parents name their kids after their favorite Napoleon dynamite character

The surprise is when you think Luke Skywalker wasn't named Gud Falla or something like that.

Hiro Protagonist?

Nah, just George LUCAS naming his hero Luke. Luke S. even.

The names didn't start that way. In an early draft, the story began with Annikin Starkiller, his dad Kane, and his brother Deak.

Hell, in the first movie Vader wasn't even going to be Lukes father. He had actually killed Anakin until they rewrote the story for the sequel.

But remember: Darth Sidious and General Grievous.

In the (wildly different) earliest surviving drafts he was named Starkiller. Now imagine this naming convention on all the good guys.

"I am Myur'dar Felon, librarian of the Jedi Temple"

Hey wasn’t Starkiller a dude in one of the games? Interesting how they reused that.

The Force Unleashed. Not to be confused with the planet name for the death star rip off in episode 7. https://www.looper.com/1481594/starkiller-what-happened-galen-marek-clone-star-wars/

Well, SKYWALKERS's enemies are called STORMtroopers, so there's that.

I mean, the Empire is basically space nazis, and the nazis had a division of stormtroopers (as did the not-so-evil [imperial German army](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stormtroopers_(Imperial_Germany) that existed before the nazis). I don't know if "skywalker" came from "stormtrooper" but I don't think these names are related.

His dads name is “An A Kin Skywalker”.
