How did liberals forget the rapidly escalating shelling of Ukrainian cities by the Ukrainian government that finally provoked Russia's intervention? This isn't secret information. It was obvious that this was meant to force a Russian invasion. The only mystery is why Zelensky did it. Even this has an extremely likely explanation. He was involved in a globe spanning financial scandal and in exchange for starting the war he was given immunity from prosecution.

How is anybody finding a way to tell a positive story about this psychopath? I feel like I'm going crazy and all I'm doing is looking at the information from their own news sources.

They didn't forget. If you bring this up they'll either block their ears and call you an evil Putler bot or smugly tell you that actually Russia started everything by sneaking into Ukraine and forcing the referenda in the east, so actually Russia started it anyway even in 2014.

(Though being completely fair, Russia's blatant lying about having troop involvement in the early stages of the civil war doesn't help their case at all on this front. It's hard to have people believe that one wasn't involved while trying to hide the obvious troops)

We never heard about it.

I haven't seen a single news article about palestinian hostages being released.

How did liberals forget

They didn't forget. They're only capable of repeating what the propaganda machine tells them. The propaganda machine decided that Russia started the war out of the blue for no reason, so now that's what they believe. It's the exact same shit with October 7.

Lib media reported on it until the blackout on all history caused by Russia finally reacting. I say it a lot but the US has a collective memory of 6 months at best.

Hasan is being a bit of a lib too in his reply

[–] [email protected] 0 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Well, this war was a pretty fucked up move from Russia, even if provoked by USA and NATO.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 3 months ago

Russia already fucked up when NATO was blatantly arming Ukraine for 7 years and turning it into one of the most effective military in Europe and Russia still naively tried to hang on to the Minsk agreement. The Ukrainian army could not even beat the LPR/DPR militias back in 2015.

So many more people are now dead because of this naivete.

I'm sure it's his genuine belief that Russia is responsible, but even if it wasn't, is he really gonna gain anything if he says the truth and recognizes that this is NATO's war since 2014?

[–] [email protected] 0 points 3 months ago (1 children)

I think he'd gain too little and lose too much by swinging for the fences on this one. The foreign policy propaganda is too strong and it would jeopardize his ability to critique domestic policy.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Exactly. Although it's interesting because the guys from Boy Boy made a video a year into the SMO explaining everything from an anti-NATO perspective and it seems like it didn't really hamper their growth much. I guess their audience probably is open-minded enough that they'd rather accept the heterodox view than sever the parasocial relationship if they're libs.

Was going to say "oh but Boy Boy is a small fringe channel, they can afford to split from US foreign policy" but apparently they're at 1.17M subs now? Goddamn

E: Also I guess being Australian doesn't hurt lol

The propaganda is pretty powerful here, at least regarding Ukraine. On a lot of things I find that people are willing to say "America's on its bullshit again" regardless of their other political views, but they will "independently" come to anti-china views.

Edit: America to Ukraine

[–] [email protected] 1 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago)

yea, kinda ignoring the whole decade of the US arming ukraine, but he is an amerikkkan after all

[–] [email protected] 1 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago) (1 children)

Yeah he's kinda a lib on this issue but I think he's trying to take a pragmatic approach and not piss off the libs too much, not that that even works as you can plainly see from libs getting pissed off at him for understanding basic facts

Tactical liberalism moment funny-clown-hammer

Only USA ukraine and israel voted against cuba like come on its our proxy loser ffs

[–] [email protected] 1 points 3 months ago

For Ukraine to be a proxy it would need to be named "Proxy State of Ukraine," without that title its just sparkling friendship
