I know this comment will sound really naive, and it’s not going to make a difference in the grand scheme of things. But, I’m seriously depressed and sad. I was part of the age of Aquarius, and I really did think we were going to make a difference. We tried, but nothing has changed. I just wish we could live in a world of “live and let live”. No violence, no wars, no annexations, no fascists. Kind of like Norway...
I feel exactly the same way as you. I didn't have any plans to leave my country up until a year or two ago. While I'm glad I did leave, I'm also so extremely angry and upset at the failure of a country that caused me to leave. It also makes me sick to my stomach to think about what's going to happen to the people I love
Have you ever seen a chicken hatch? It's a messy and destructive process. Before that first peck, the chick inside the egg is all but invulnerable. As soon as it makes that first crack though, all bets are off. The shell can cut the chick killing it, it can drown in the remaining embryonic fluid in the egg if it can't get out in time, and it is immediately set upon by hordes of bacteria and viruses that couldn't get to it. However, as long as everything goes somewhat normally, 5 minutes late you have a cute fluffy chick.
Humanity takes a bit longer to develop societally because so many bad habits have inertia. Your generation kept the ball rolling, and specifically set up the necessary destruction needed to get society to the point that you were at 55 years ago. The process started in the mid 1800s, and should finish, in the next couple to few decades, with either all of us dead, or whoever's left uniting under a single banner of equality and prosperity for all.
History. It’s a messy and destructive process. Let me dilute this: Unfortunately, we haven’t learned from WWI, or WWII. Our grandfathers fought and died against fascism, and Hitler. And here we are—again. AGAIN. There are children starving, dying, and suffering in Gaza. We have lost our humanity.
Take care of yourself. None of this is normal and thus you're going to need more self care than normal. You are making a difference even just sharing the way this makes you feel. We're all in this together and I can see you know that too.

Page 21 of the ruling:
First, the Enforcement Guidance contravenes Title VII's plain text by expanding the scope of "sex" beyond the biological binary: male and female. Although Title VII defines "sex" to also include "pregnancy, childbirth, or related medical conditions," §2000e(k), the Enforcement Guidance concludes that "sex" under Title VII "includes 'pregnancy, childbirth, or related medical conditions' and sexual orientation and gender identity." Enforcement Guidance, §I(A)(5) (emphasis added). Notably, the Guidance uses quotation marks around "pregnancy, childbirth, or related medical conditions"—but not "sexual orientation" or "gender identity." Because neither the plain text of Title VII nor Supreme Court precedent defines Title VII "sex" this broadly. Thus, the Enforcement Guidance lacks statutory or jurisprudential authority to expand Title VII's definition of "sex" to include these new categories.
Interestingly, this also seems to provide a legal basis to discriminate against straight people and cis people. It'll be interesting to see how Republicans attempt to close that extra loophole without also closing the loophole for discrimination against LGBTQ people.
Relax. Its not great but this is one of those judges the government always puts there shit in front of. We should do work to get him removed but this will hopefully be brought down in the courts which so far haven't been totally useless
It's amazing how just a few months ago the people's option on the courts was at an all-time low. Now because President Trump has caused so much chaos they're more popular than ever.

Discriminating based on political ideology was always allowed.
It just doesn't matter and isn't a good rebuttal because the fascists and Nazis are the ones with the power, so discrimination against them doesn't hurt them the way their discrimination hurts others.
Many states never agreed with LGBT people having employment at all. Much of the history involves homelessness as a result of not being able to have sustained work because in many states, society would label and sabotage the ability for LGBT or people believed to be LGBT to have employment which is necessary to maintain housing. It was very much a sustained, methodical, approach that was taken. This is true going back to the Lavendar Scare in the Federal Govt, where like rooting out communists during the McCarthy era, they made sure to take all the Govt jobs away from anyone believed to be gay. Discrimination at work is a key means of taking away the right for someone to work.
Now they have many new weapons to enforce this end result in the lives of people living in the states that want to bring this back.

Oh hey, it's this asshole. This guy is the reason I reacted to that news about making all court rulings only apply locally with some humorous positivity. (also because humor helps me cope with general awfulness)
No, they absolutely can help being assholes. But for them it's not enough to win, those they see as "losers" must suffer.
