If it makes you feel better, the UK is threatening to come to the defense of the US as a NAFO member if Iran retaliates (and they sure will)
Comradeship // Freechat
Talk about whatever, respecting the rules established by Lemmygrad. Failing to comply with the rules will grant you a few warnings, insisting on breaking them will grant you a beautiful shiny banwall.
A community for comrades to chat and talk about whatever doesn't fit other communities
No, that makes me feel worsw tbh. I mean the sole reason Iran is at where it is now is because of MI6 and CIA intevention, and now they want to do it again? How do they expect the Iranian people to like them when all they even did was putting some tyrannical monarch in power and bombing their country?
europe will go down faster economically don't worry.
It is going downhill just as fast. Far right parties haven taken over in many countries already. Germany, The Netherlands and Belgium are currently doing border checks despite being in Schengen. In The Netherlands you have impromptu militias doing border checks as well whose chats have been uncovered saying they want to get weapons and hope they find 'some brown ones'.
I cannot for the life of my find a house in my home country without paying at least 400-500k for a simple terraced house. Factories are actively poisoning the waters where I live and nobody does anything about it. Climate change is becoming noticeable as we are getting drier and hotter summers and warmer winters every year.
We're about to spend billions we don't have to fund the American military complex, bringing devestation to the social welfare system we have.
Just to name a few things. If the US goes down, Europe goes down with it if they don't make a change soon.
If the US goes down, most of the world will probably fall to chaos because of how centered everything is financially around the US. It would be worse than the 1929. The EU has no measures against this
I’ve been saying this for a while but Europeans get very defensive when you suggest that they aren’t the paragons of virtue that their mothers told them they are.
Tell a conservative european that europeans are not morally superior to other countries (mission impossible)
I mean, I don't think there is anyone who posts about their lived experience around here more than @[email protected], and quite a lot of it is about what total shit-holes Belgium and The Netherlands are like to live in. Given their posts, I get the impression it's just as bad, if not worse, than most places in the US.
So idk where you're getting the impression that the EU is some magic utopia, maybe you're just lucky enough to live in a more privileged class of your society? I know from personal acquaintances that they often never came into contact with less fortunate people due to how in Europe it's much more provincial, and not quite as Urban, so you're not always going to be made to confront the poverty and exploitation as viscerally as in other parts of the world.
I haven't seen that poster but I have seen others on various platforms portray Europe as Utopian and the rest of the world as an unlivable hellscape. Even their political class cannot help themselves: https://www.euronews.com/my-europe/2022/10/19/josep-borrell-apologises-for-controversial-garden-vs-jungle-metaphor-but-stands-his-ground
Despite Europe's centuries long parasitic relationship with the rest of humanity they still think that they are the good guys while everyone else is the problem.
Europeans won't "wake up", they'll just side with fascism.
The chinese did too in the beginning after the empire fell, but after some decades the socialists won in the end. I will never loose hope
Isn't that their default mode?
*again
I mean... isn't it? Maybe in different ways. But its still a mess.
Yeah, especially Germany. I was under the impression that financially things there were really bleak.
I think what OP is getting at is that a lot of liberals still have a lot of hope with the EU system, and it's keeping people from radical politics.
And it serves as inspiration for a lot of the global south. “European style social democracy” has become an increasingly popular talking point.
"We need a European style democracy."
"The example, right? Well-funded institutions dedicated to working class well-being?"
"No, exploiting Africa and sending billions to Ukraine. How else do we get the healthcare budget to cut in the first place?"
Ah, yeah, that's completely true
